    Abstract: A catalyst composition for the polymerization or copolymerization of olefins composed of(A) a titanium component (a-1) or (a-2),(a-1) a highly active titanium component containing titanium, magnesium and halogen as essential ingredients, or(a-2) a highly active titanium catalyst component obtained by treating component (a-1) with an organic compound containing active hydrogen bonded to oxygen, and(B) an organoaluminum compound component, characterised in that(i) when component (A) is the component (a-1), component (B) is an organoaluminum compound component obtained by treating a halogen-containing organoaluminum compound having a halogen/Al atomic ratio of at least 1/1 but less than 2/1 with a compound selected from water and organic compounds having active hydrogen bonded to oxygen, and(ii) when component (A) is the component (a-2), the component (B) is a halogen-containing organoaluminum compound having a halogen/Al atomic ratio of at least 1/1 but less than 2/1, and the ratio of the amount (x) of the organic compound having active hydrogen atom bonded to oxygen and/or oxygen-containing group derived from said organic compound to the amount (y) of titanium x:y, is 4-100:1.

    Abstract: A process for producing a polymer or copolymer of an alpha-olefin comprises continuously polymerizing or copolymerizing the alpha-olefin or the alpha-olefin with up to 5 mole% of a diolefin in the presence of a catalyst composed of (A) a solid magnesium compound obtained by reacting (i) an adduct formed between a magnesium halide and an electron donor, with (ii) an organometallic compound of a metal of Groups I to III of Mendelejeff's periodic table, (B) a liquid transition metal compound, and (C) an organoaluminum compound, while feeding the compound (B) separately from the other compounds (A) and (C) into a polymerization or copolymerization zone. By means of this process it is possible to produce a polymer or copolymer of narrow molecular weight distribution, while yet avoiding the requirement of known processes of supporting a transition metal compound on a magnesium-containing carrier before carrying out a polymerization or copolymerization reaction.

    Abstract: Improved process for preparing an ethylene polymer wax which comprises polymerizing ethylene or copolymerizing ethylene with up to 10 mole% of an alpha-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms in the presence of (A) a highly active titanium catalyst component activated by a magnesium compound and (B) an organoaluminum catalyst component composed of (B-l) an organoaluminum compound free from halogen bonded directly to the aluminum atom and (B-2) a halogen compound of an element selected from the group consisting of elements other than titanium of Groups III and IV of the Mendelejeff's periodic table, the atomic ratio of halogen to aluminum in the organoaluminum catalyst component (B) being from about 1:6 to about 9:10, provided that when said halogen compound is a halogen compound of carbon, this atomic ratio is from about 1:6 to about 10:1, and said polymerization or copolymerization being carried out under such conditions that the concentration of ethylene polymer wax in the polymerization or copolymerization system is about 200 to about 600 g/liter of solvent, to form a wax having a viscosity average molecular weight of up to about 6000.
