Abstract: A fingerprint characteristic extraction apparatus uses, in addition to characteristic amounts used in ordinary preselection processing, a novel characteristic amount obtained from a fingerprint image for the preselection processing. The fingerprint characteristic extraction apparatus includes a ridge extraction section (12) for extracting ridges from an inputted fingerprint image, a singular point detection section (13) for detecting singular points from the ridges, a main pattern discrimination section (14) for discriminating a pattern from the ridges and the singular points, and a singular point characteristic calculation section (15) for detecting characteristic amounts between the singular points from the ridges, the singular points and the pattern. The fingerprint characteristic extraction apparatus further includes a joint line extraction section (11) for extracting a joint line from the inputted fingerprint image, and a joint line characteristic calculation section (16) for calculating joint line singular point characteristic amounts from the joint lines, the ridges and the singular points.

Abstract: A method and device for fingerprint identification implementing precise identification at a high speed by using partial images of a fingerprint obtained through relative movements of a finger to a small sized sensor are provided. For reassembling a sequence of partial images inputted from a frame input section 50 into a complete image, each of the partial images is collated with a user's fingerprint image (template image) registered in a template image storage section 52 to determine a position where the partial image matches best at an optimal position calculator 55, and then combined with a partial composite image stored in a partial composite image storage section 53 at an image combining section 60. When the complete composite image is obtained after repeating the above operations, specific features are extracted from the composite image at a reference character extracting section 62, and collated with those of the template image stored in a template reference character storage section 54. Consequently, user authentication can be performed at a high speed while ensuring stability in the collating operation.

Abstract: By means of a program producing apparatus 201, a self-restoration type program is produced, wherein inversion processing that operates before at least said converted part is executed during execution in a user computer 221 so that the contents of said converted part are inverted into original contents is incorporated into a main program in which, by means of reversible conversion processing, at least one part is converted into a difficult state to be deciphered, and this is stored in an object storage section 222 of the user computer 221. When the self-restoration type program is started-up, said converted part is restored by itself on a main memory 223, and a desired operation of the said program is made possible.

Abstract: A fingerprint authentication device comprises input finger characteristic judging portion 13. The input finger characteristic judging portion 13 judges whether the input data is proper or not on the basis of spatial distribution of brightness in an fingerprint image represented by the input data. An observation line deciding portion decides an observation line on the fingerprint image. A peak envelope calculating portion graphs the brightness against positions on the observation line and draws envelopes of line graphs each of which links local maximums or local minimums of the brightness. A discriminative value calculating portion calculates discriminative values by the use of a brightness distribution function and peak envelop functions. A deciding portion decides whether the input image is proper or not by the use of the discriminative values together with the discriminative coefficient preliminary calculated.

Abstract: A user terminal including a fingerprint sensor is connected via a network to a content distribution server. The server includes at least a fingerprint-feature comparing unit and a specified content distributor. The fingerprint-feature comparing unit accesses a registered user information table in which personal information regarding a user, a user identification, and fingerprint feature information, and reads therefrom fingerprint feature information of a person who requests a content distribution so as to compare the fingerprint feature information with fingerprint feature information of the person inputted from the user terminal. The specific content distributor distributes a requested content to the user terminal only when match is made as a result of comparison. The content can therefore be distributed via a network with higher reliability and safety.
