Abstract:
A method of a mobile switching center includes determining if a message belongs to a first set of messages or a second set of messages, filtering the message when the message belongs to the first set of messages, and sending the message when the message belongs to the second set of messages. A method of an interworking solution includes receiving a message from an apparatus, determining if the message belongs to a first set of messages or a second set of messages, and discarding the message when the message belongs to the first set of messages. The first set of messages are 1x native messages unsupported for tunneling to a user equipment and the second set of messages are 1x native messages supported for tunneling to the user equipment for circuit switch fallback procedures.
Abstract:
In a communication system in which a roaming node seeking network access among different networks which are implemented with different network interface layer protocols, handoff schemes are instituted whereby the node may freely move from one network to another with reduced levels of interruptions with respect to the network access. Prior to and at the onset of a handoff, the node receives an indication for the handoff. The indication may be embodied in various forms such as a signal message indicating a change of the SID (System Identification), NID (Network Identification), or PZID (Packet Zone Identification). Alternatively, the indication can be in the form of information straightforwardly included in a data packet sent to the roaming node prior to the handoff. As another alternative, the indication can be implemented as distinguishable message patterns sent to the node in which different message patterns can be sent by different networks supporting different network interface layer protocols.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which a system for optimizing pilot search window size selection for inter RAT handovers is implemented. An IWS may receive a message including at least one measurement value for each 1x pilot PN in a 1x network, obtained from measurements requested by an eNB and performed by a UE. The IWS may select one or more parameters for pilot search based on the at least one measurement value for the UE to use for pilot searching in the 1x network. Further the IWS may transmit the selected one or more parameters for pilot search to the UE for pilot searching in the 1x network.
Abstract:
Radio access interworking technologies allow a target network to notify a source network that a mobile device has moved from source network to target network, wherein mobile device does not need to perform notification to source network. Further, source network can provide a first subset of overhead information to mobile device and, after moving to target network, mobile device can receive a second subset of overhead information from target network. Further, mobile device can perform prehashing prior to moving to target network based on a channel list received from source network.
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate protocol address assignment using protocols compatible with specified domains for mobile devices. Devices can request wireless network access through a gateway, which can forward an authentication/authorization request to an authentication server. Upon successful authentication, the authentication server can transmit one or more domain identifiers related to the device or a user thereof. Using the domain identifier, compatible IP protocols can be determined for use in configuring the device for subsequent domain communication.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which 1x CSFB for communication of SMS messages in an LTE environment may be avoided. An IWS may receive a paging request message from a MSC, wherein the paging request message includes a first SMS service option indicating communication of a SMS message using a first RAT. The IWS may avoid an ESR procedure by analyzing the first SMS service option in the paging request message. Further the IWS may establish a common channel connection between the IWS and a target UE using a second RAT, wherein the first RAT and the second RAT are different.
Abstract:
Access control techniques enable an access terminal to obtain service through an access point. In some aspects, access control techniques may be used to enable a user (e.g., an owner) of an access point to control whether an access terminal obtains service through the access point. For example, a user may temporarily disable access control at an access point to enable access points that register with the access point while access control is disabled to thereafter be allowed to obtain service through the access point. As another example, a shared secret may be provided to an access terminal whereby, upon presenting the shared secret to an access point, the access terminal is allowed to obtain service through the access point.
Abstract:
Techniques for originating a voice call by a UE after performing reselection with reprioritization are described. The UE may operate in an idle mode and may camp on a first wireless network of a first radio access technology (RAT), which may not support voice service. The first wireless network may have the highest priority among all wireless networks detected by the UE. The UE may receive an indication to originate a voice call. The UE may then perform reselection from the first wireless network to a second wireless network of a second RAT by modifying the priorities of the frequencies of the first wireless network and/or the second wireless network. The UE may then originate the voice call with the second wireless network, instead of the first wireless network, in order to avoid having to perform circuit-switched (CS) fallback from the first wireless network to the second wireless network.
