Abstract: PURPOSE:To form passages on a thin vibration plate from a photosensitive resin without deforming the same and to eliminate the irregularity of ink emitting characteristics. CONSTITUTION:Passage partition walls 2, nozzle row partition walls 3 and outer peripheral walls 4 all of which are composed of a photosensitive resin are formed on a vibration plate 1 and a nozzle plate 6 having a large number of nozzle orifices 5 is arranged thereon to form passages 7 and a common ink supply passage 8. A thin part (hereinbelow referred to as a partition wall groove 9) is provided to each nozzle row partition wall 3. Pressure generating elements 12 are bonded to the vibration plate 1 at the position where the passages of the vibration plate 1 are formed and expand and contract when an electric pulse is sent to the elements 12 from a drive circuit to deform the vibration plate 1. The ink in the passages 7 receives a pressure pulse to be emitted from the nozzle orifices 5. The pressure pulse is also propagated to the nozzle row partition walls 3 but prevented from propagation beyond by the partition wall groove 9.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a flawless water-repellent film with a uniform thickness on a nozzle surface easily. CONSTITUTION:A water-repellent film 1 is formed on the nozzle surface 2 of a nozzle member 4 for an ink jet head in the following steps: (1) the step of applying a liquid water-repellent material to the surface of a support, (2) the step of curing the water-repellent material on the support, (3) the step of allowing the nozzle surface of the ink jet head to come in contact with the water-repellent material and the water-repellent material to be transferred to the nozzle surface of the ink jet head, and (4) the step of drawing the nozzle surface of the ink jet head off the support.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a driving method for an ink jet head which enables high speed printing to be carried out by a method wherein a response frequency of an ink jet is raised by returning an ink meniscus quickly to a standard state. CONSTITUTION:In a driving method of an ink jet head wherein a passage and a nozzle surface discharging ink arranged in contact with the passage are provided and a part or the whole of a side wall of the passage is composed of a piezoelectric material, after applying (at time B) an electric pulse discharging an ink drop, an additional pulse being reverse voltage of the electric pulse is applied at time F. Thereby, a response frequency will be raised and high speed printing will be capable of being performed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a nozzle plate having a nozzle opening with a preferable precision of hole diameter by making a mold having a predetermined shape of a nozzle, pouring a liquid organic macromolecule resin therein, curing it, and stripping off the cured organic macromolecule resin from the mold. CONSTITUTION:As an organic macromolecule resin, there is not any limitation. Epoxy, polyester, acrylic, polyimide, polyurethane, silicone, fluorine, polysulfone resins and the like can be used. When those resins are solid, they are dissolved by a solvent so as to liquefy them. A mold is made using a metal or plastic by means of cutting, electric discharge, laser, ultrasonic machining, photolithoetching, electroformulation and the like. A liquid organic macromolecule resin 31 is poured into a mold 32. The liquid organic macromolecule resin 31 is cured by heat, ultraviolet rays and the like so as to make a nozzle plate 33. The nozzle plate 33 is stripped off from the mold 32.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate a blurring, an irregularity at the initial printing and to largely extend a printing life by forming oblique grooves on the surface of a transfer roll for supplying ink in an ink storage member to an ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:Ink 7 of an ink storage member 6 is moved and raised to an ink roller 5 by a capillary tube operation to move the ink to the surface of a transfer roll 4 from the contact part of the roll 4. Further, oblique grooves 8 are formed on the surface of the roll 4 thereby to move the ink 7 only to a flat part so that the ink does not spread over the groove to the whole roll 4. The ink 4 of the surface of the roll 4 is shifted from the contact part of the roll 4 and an ink ribbon 2 to the ribbon 2. In this case, the ink and the ribbon use conventional ones.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a long-life, small-size, and low-cost ink ribbon cassette, by positioning an ink tank under an ink roller and dipping the lower end of the ink roller made of a porous member in the ink in the ink tank. CONSTITUTION:An ink 7 in an ink tank 6 transfers to an ink roll 5 by a capillary force and rises to be infiltrated in the ink roll 5 all over. The ink roll 5 is made of a porous member formed by sintering powder of such a synthetic resin as polyethylene and polypropylene. The ink in the ink roll 5 is transferred to the surface of a transfer roll 4 through the contact part of the ink roll 5 and the transfer roll 4. The ink on the surface of the transfer roll 4 is transferred to an ink ribbon 2 through the contact part of the transfer roll 4 and the ink ribbon 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent an ink ribbon from being broken in long-time printing and enable high-speed printing, by coating a synthetic resin base fabric with a specified thermosetting resin. CONSTITUTION:A base fabric of a synthetic resin such as nylon 6 and nylon 66 is coated with a thermosetting resin comprising at least a polyester resin and a melamine resin by a roll coater in a coating weight of 1.0g/m , followed by drying to produce a ribbon. The ribbon is coated with an ink by a roll coater in a coating weight of 10g/m to produce an ink ribbon 1 having a high mechanical strength. The ink ribbon 1 thus obtained is not broken even when being used for printing for a long time, end enables printing at a higher speed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent wires from being broken in long-time printing and prolong the useful life of a printer, by coating a synthetic resin base fabric with a thermosetting resin comprising a saturated copolymeric polyester resin and isocyanate. CONSTITUTION:For example, a composition comprising 10% of a saturated copolymeric polyester resin, 2% of polyisocyanate, 66% of toluene and 22% of methyl ethyl ketone is agitated and dissolved to prepare a solution. The solution is applied to, for example, a nylon base fabric by a roll coater, followed by drying to form a ribbon. The coating weight of the thermosetting resin comprising the polyester resin and the polyisocyanate is set to be 0.1-5.0g/m . The ribbon is coated with an ink by a roll coater to produce an ink ribbon. When the ink ribbon 1 is set on an impact printer and is used for continuous printing for, for instance, 250hr, wires 2 are not broken at all, and printing quantity is made favorable.
