    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and small-sized bi-directional optical communicator and a bi-directional optical communicating device realizing an all double system with a single line of optical fiber ad having a reduced transmission loss both in transmission and reception. SOLUTION: A transmission beam 13 emitted from a light emitting element 4 is converged by a transmission lens 6 and passes through a transmission area 9 of a light separating element 8 to be coupled with the optical fiber 2. A reception beam 15 emitted from the optical fiber 2 is reflected with a curved reflection surface 10 formed on the light separating element 8 surface to be coupled with a light receiving element 4. Part of the transmission beam 13 (reflected transmission beam 14) reflected by he optical fiber 2 passes through the transmission area 9 not to be coupled with the light receiving element 4.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deformable mirror which prevents an insulating member from being charged electrostatically and holds the deforming shape of a plastic member with high precision. SOLUTION: The deformable mirror 1 consists roughly of a mirror substrate 2, a reference substrate 3, and a voltage application part 4. Switching between the deformation and nondeformation of the deformable mirror 1 is controlled by a voltage application part 4. When the voltage application part 4 applies an alternating voltage between a flexible member 5 and a counter electrode 8, an electrostatic attractive force is generated between the both and the flexible member 5 is attracted to a reference surface 7 to deform in conformity with the reference surface 7. When the application of the AC voltage by the voltage application part 4 is stopped, no electrostatic attractive force operates between the flexible member 5 and counter electrode 8, so that the flexible member 5 is put back into its initial shape.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet head which has a response property excellent for heating and cooling, and is suitable for high speed printing. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle plate 111 has a nozzle orifice 111a. At a predetermined distance from the nozzle orifice 111a, an ink supply opening 107 having an opposite opening end is provided on a base plate 105. A central part of a buckling structure 101 is positioned in between the nozzle orifice 111a and the opening of the ink supply opening 107, and both ends of the structure are supported by at least the base plate 105. A compression means gives compressive stress to the inside of the buckling structure 101 by heating. The base plate 105 has a thickness of 20mum or more and the ink supply opening 107 penetrates the base plate 105 in the thickness direction. The opening area of the ink supply opening 107 is 900mum or less at its opening end. The buckling structure 101 is buckled by the compressive stress given by the compression means and the central part of the buckling structure 101 is deformed toward the nozzle orifice 111a.

Ink is discharged by movement of a piston 103 that is in a size approximately the same as the ink supply port 102 and moves in the direction vertical to the substrate.
