Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent mis-recognizing in the case of the reception of a video signal of a different system by controlling and processing the video signal corresponding to the presence of a reception level of a signal for processing frequency band and of a PCM audio signal. CONSTITUTION:A band pass filter 5 detects an 8MHz frequency component of a reception signal, and a PSK, PCM circuit 10 detects the presence of a PCM frame SYNC in the NTSC system satellite broadcast. Then a BS control circuit 18 discriminates whether or not the received radio wave is the NTSC system satellite broadcast signal based on an output of an A/D converter circuit 16 and an output of the PSK, PCM circuit 10. A video processor 8 is controlled in response to the result of discrimination to mute the video signal. Thus, even when a signal of a different system is received, mis-recognition of a fault is prevented.

Further, a command is outputted against a character generator 22, to perform display such as 'main' and 'sub', 'main/sub' different from the normal screen display, for example, on the voice output mode.

After the sound quality is adjusted by a commander 21, and the sound quality is adjusted to prescribed sound quality and fed to a sound spectrum generating circuit 9. In this case, the spectrum is displayed on a screen of a picture tube 20. Thus, the sound quality is discriminated at a glance.
