Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently apply magnetic field on an optical magnetic recording layer of an optical recording medium with a low power consumption as well as to execute making into high NA, and to suppress occurrence of discontinuity of a coil and others. SOLUTION: A magneto-optical head 25 is equipped with lenses 41, 42 to make light irradiating on a magneto-optical recording layer 2a of a magneto- optical disk 2 to converge and with a coil part 46 which is a magnetic field generating element arranged on the side opposite to the magneto-optical disk 2 on a coil-supporting substrate 44a on the lense 41. On the coil-supporting substrate 44a on the lense 41, a projecting part 44b is provided which is formed of an outgoing radiating surface 44d projecting from a recessed part 44c arranged with the coil part 46, towards the side of the magneto-optical disk 2.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head in which thermal stress caused by an optical lens attached to a bobbin can be reduced. SOLUTION: The optical head 110 is equipped with the bobbin 10 which is formed with a center hole 10H, and the optical lens 20 which is attached to the bobbin 10 through a thermal expansion relaxing member 40 formed with an opening 40H. The optical lens 20 is provided with a base plate 24A consisting of an optical material whose thermal expansion coefficient is different from that of the bobbin 10. The base plate 24A is provided with a projected part 21 having the function of a convex lens and with a flat part 22 situated on the periphery of the projected part 21. The flat part 22 is stuck to the thermal expansion relaxing member 40 in a manner that the projected part 21 is fitted to the opening 40H. The optical lens 20 is arranged so that the center axis or its extension of the projected part 21 passes through the center hole 10H of the bobbin 10, while the center axis of the projected part 21 is aligned with that of the center hole 10H of the bobbin 10.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the eccentricity of light from the center axis and to suppress fluctuation in the diameter of a beam irradiating an optical recording layer to within the allowable range. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a light converging means to converge the light irradiating the recording layer of an optical recording medium and with a light shielding part applied in the optical recording medium side of the light converging means. A transmission hole to transmit the converged light by the light converging means is formed in the light shielding part to regulate the diameter of the light irradiating the optical information recording medium. The incident light is first converged by the light converging means and then the converged light transmits though the transmission hole and irradiates the magneto-optical recording layer of the optical recording medium. The diameter of the beam irradiating the optical recording layer of the optical recording medium is regulated by the transmission hole to determine the NA.

The optical recording medium 80 has an inorganic dielectric layer 861 in the incident side where the converged beam LB enters, and the refractive index of the inorganic dielectric layer 861 is higher than the refractive index of the optical system. The recording layer 863 is formed between dielectric layers 862 and 864. For example, the optical recording medium 80 is a phase transition type optical disk, the optical system is a near field optical system, and the converged light beam LB is obtained from blue or blue-violet laser light.
