Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make plasma discharge uniform and stabilize it. CONSTITUTION:The plasma address display device consists of liquid crystal cells and plasma cells, and gas is charged in the plasma cells which are arrayed and formed in a column direction; and anode electrodes and cathode electrodes are formed, and a specific potential difference is given between both the electrodes to cause plasma discharge inside, thereby forming a discharge channel. An auxiliary capacitor 160 for making transient discharge characteristics at plasma discharge time slow is connected between both the electrodes. When the discharge characteristics become slow, the time when a discharge start voltage is held is slightly extended. Consequently, the discharge in the discharge channel is made uniform and stabilized.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To correct the lowering of light quantity even when a devitrification phenomenon occurs. CONSTITUTION:By moving the positions of a reflector 3 or a metal halide lamp 2 on an optical axis, the reflection angle of light reflected by the reflector 3 is changed, and the light which does not pass through a condenser lens 4 because of devitrification also passes through the lens 4, so that condensed light quantity is increased. As a result, the condensed light quantity is not decreased so much even when the devitrification phenomenon caused by the increase of the use time of the lamp 2 occurs.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To perfectly convert a color temperature with simple constitution by providing a color temperature variable filter which can be attached to/ detached from the front surface of the projecting lens of a projector and attaching it according to the preference of a user. CONSTITUTION:The color temperature variable filter 3 is attached to the front surface of the projecting lens 2 by forming a cylindrical part 3b holding a filter part 3a in a lens cap shape. The filter part 3a is a dichroic filter made of inorganic material and the transmissivity of light is different according to wavelength. By attaching the filter 3, the specified wavelength component of projected video light outputted from the lens 2 is attenuated, so that the color temperature of the projected video is converted. Thus, the device complies with various preferences of the users.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To suppress a flicker which is generated as temperature varies and to improve picture quality by making corrections so that the man value of a video signal goes to zero corresponding to temperature characteristics of the display device. CONSTITUTION:A 1st voltage Vcc is supplied to a resistance R1 connected to a resistant R2 in series and a 2nd voltage Vss is supplied to the resistance R2. Further, a thermistor RT is connected to the resistance R2 in parallel, the connection point of the resistances R1 and R2 is connected to the common electrode CE of a liquid crystal display element LCD, and a voltage VCt is supplied to an electrode CE. The voltage VCt is set an offset voltage DELTAV lower than the mean value of the video signal Vs. Therefore, even if the offset voltage DELTAV is generated by stray capacitors CG and CL, it is corrected with the voltage VCt, which varies with temperature, so that the mean value of the voltage supplied to an element LCD goes to zero. Consequently, a flicker of an image is suppressed and the picture quality is improved.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic display device having a wide horizontal viewing angle.SOLUTION: A polarizing plate 28 is configured to p-polarize a stereoscopic image light beam which has been spatially modulated in a first spatial modulation area P1 of a liquid crystal panel unit 24 based on a stereoscopic image signal, and s-polarize planar image light beams which have been spatially modulated in second and third spatial modulation areas P2 and P3, respectively based on planar image signals. The p-polarized light beam (p-polarized light L1) and the s-polarized light beams (s-polarized light L2, L3) polarized in the projector 6 are projected onto a screen 10. First and second polarized beam splitters 11 and 12 of the screen 10 are configured to transmit the p-polarized light L1 for a stereoscopic image, and refract the s-polarized light beams L2 and L3 for a planer image in a horizontal direction, respectively. While a stereoscopic image observable area A1 is secured at the front of the stereoscopic image display device, planar image observable areas A2 and A3 are secured on the external left and right sides of the area A1.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To project a video that has a depth, by reducing the pitch of each interval between image projection elements while ensuring high image quality. SOLUTION: In the image display apparatus, a plurality of liquid crystal display elements 13 serving as optical modulation elements are disposed on a spiral B formed around one straight line as a center axis A. This makes it possible to escape the liquid crystal display elements 13 outward more widely around the center axis A as their center. Accordingly, a stereoscopic image display apparatus 1 that is more compact as a whole can be obtained. A plurality of mirrors 9 serving as optical members so that the directions of the optical axes of luminous fluxes emitted from a plurality of reduction lens systems 15 serving as optical systems are arranged on the center axis A.
