Abstract: PURPOSE:To supply 4 channel signals used at a Dolby surround system, 4 channel signals in a 3-1 system or 4 channel signals in a 2-2 system to a correspondent speaker while amplifying those signals without changing connection with the speaker. CONSTITUTION:The level control or the like of signals to be amplified is executed by a tone control/master volume circuit 4, L signals, R signals and C signals are supplied to an L channel speaker 16, R channel speaker 17 and C channel speaker 18 while switching first and second selector circuits 1 and 3 corresponding to the objective signals to be amplified, and S signals are respectively supplied to an LB channel speaker 19 and RB channel speaker 20 or L signals, R signals, LB signals and RB signals are respectively supplied to the L channel speaker 16, R channel speaker 17, LB channel speaker 19 and RB channel speaker 20.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the recording of four channel sound signals by a two channel recording means by multiplexing sound signals of left, center and rear channels out of the four channel sound signals of 3-1 system, multiplexing the right, center and rear channel sound signals, and forming their respective sound signals accordingly. CONSTITUTION:The recorder is provided with a matrix circuit 2 for forming the 1st channel sound signal by multiplexing the left channel, center channel and rear channel sound signals out of the four channel sound signals of the 3-1 system consisting of the left channel, the right channel, the center channel and the rear channel and also for forming the 2nd channel sound signal by multiplexing the right channel, center channel and rear channel sound signals and a recording means 3 for recording these 1st channel and 2nd channel sound signals. By this method, the four channel sound signals of the 3-1 system are recorded by the two channel recording means without deteriorating sound quality greatly.
