    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the wear and heat check resistances of cast iron contg. a network eutectic carbide by heating the cast iron to a specified temp. and holding it. CONSTITUTION:Cast iron contg. a network eutectic carbide is heated to the solidus line temp. - the solidus line temp. + 80 deg.C and held for about 1-100hr. The cast iron is preferably held at the solidus line temp. + 30 deg.C - the solidus line temp. + 50 deg.C for about 5-20hr. By the heat treatment, the shape of the network eutectic carbide is changed and the wear and heat check resistances are improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the amt. of a lubricating agent to be introduced, to prevent the deterioration in surface quality and to permit high-draft rolling by coating the lubricating agent consisting of alkali metal soap on a hot rolled steel strip without descaling the strip and subjecting the strip to skin pass rolling and cold rolling at limited drafts. CONSTITUTION:The alkali metal soap is the alkali metal soap of fatty acids obtainable from animal and vegetable oils and the hydrogenated oils of the animals and vegetable oils to which an oiliness agent such as fatty acid or wax, inorg. material such as talk or quicklime and antioxidant, rust preventive agent, etc. can be added. The coated amt. of such alkali metal soap prior to skin pass rolling is adequately 0.4-6.0% skin pass draft and the amt. of the powder to be supplied is enough with 25-50g/m . The cooling of rolling rolls is executed by providing holes of cylindrical, spiral, ladder or other shapes into the roll and passing a cooling medium such as water, alcohol or liquefied gas therein.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a powdered or granular lubricant for hot plastic working, which has an excellent lubricating effect, by coating graphite particle with an inorg. binder. CONSTITUTION:Graphite particle is coated with an inorg. binder such as boron oxide or boric acid to obtain the desired powdered or granular lubricant for hot plastic working. For example, the powdered lubricant can be obtd. by dispersing finely divided graphite particles in an aq. soln. of boron oxide, gradually, evaporating water with stirring to precipitate fine boron oxide particles dissolved in water on the outer surface of the graphite particle and further crushing the resulting particle into a particle having the desired particle size. The granular lubricant can be obtd. by molding the powdered lubricant into a granule. The inorg. binder such as boron oxide is used in a quantity of 5-40wt%. The resulting lubricant is suitable for use in hot pipe manufacturing particularly under severe friction conditions.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a lubricant for hot processing exhibiting an excellent lubricating effect even in hot processing which involves a long contact time at a high temperature, prepared by mixing graphite with sulfur (compd.) having a sulfur content of a specified wt%.
    CONSTITUTION: The lubricant is prepared by mixing graphite with a particle diameter of about 1W200μm, such as flaky graphite, with sulfur or its compd. having a sulfur content of 0.5W20wt%. The sulfur (compd.) includes powdered sulfur, sodium benzenesulfonate and methyl mercaptan. When the lubricant is used, the component of a workpiece, e.g., Fe, reacts with sulfur in the lubricant to form a film of FeS (4) on frictional surfaces (2, 3) of a tool and the workpiece and FeS with a low shear resistance reduces friction on the frictional surfaces (2, 3) and prevents seizing of the frictional surface.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make efficient and inexpensive mass production of a titled steel plate having high resistance to ridging by casting continuously a molten steel while adding a specific amt. of metallic powder having a specific grain size to the molten steel flow from a tundish, then subjecting successively the billet to hot rolling, annealing and cold rolling. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel is cast continuously while metallic powder having 5-3,000mu grain size is added at a rate of 0.1-5% by weight of the molten steel to the molten steel flow from a tundish thereby forming a continuously cast billet. The billet is subjected successively to hot rolling, annealing and cold rolling and is made into a steel plate. The stainless steel powder having the same component as the component of an intended ferritic stainless steel plate is preferably used for the metallic powder and the similar effect is obtainable as well by using carbon steel powder of a low cost.
