    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the amt. of a lubricating oil to a contact part and to permit high-speed and high-draft rolling by subjecting a hard-to-work material to rolling at a prescribed draft with rolls having prescribed roughness, then to ordinary rolling with rolls having small roughness. CONSTITUTION:The hard-to-work material which consists of stainless steels, titanium, titanium alloy, etc., and is descaled is subjected to rolling at 1-5% draft by the dull rolls 1 having 0.5-2.0mum surface roughness Ra in the first one pass at the time of cold working said material. Roughness is imparted to the surface of the rolled stock 2 by such rolling, by which the amt. of the lubricating agent to be introduced to a roll bite is increased.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably manufacture a stainless steel strip having good surface quality by hot rolling a stock by supplying a dispersion liquid, whose friction coefficient is adjusted by addition of iron oxide, etc., onto the surface of a rolling roll in a position corresponding to the strip edge rolling part. CONSTITUTION:At the time of hot rolling a stainless steel strip, a dispersion liquid whose friction coefficient is adjusted to be 0.2-0.4 by addition of >=1vol% of >=1 kind of iron oxide, silica, and alumina is supplied onto the surface of a rolling roll in a position corresponding to the strip edge at least. In that situation, continuous rolling does not cause insufficient biting or slips and stainless steel stips having the good surface quality are stably manufactured without generation of seizing flaws.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the wear and heat check resistances of alloy cast steel for a tool contg. a network eutectic carbide by heating the alloy cast steel to a specified temp. and holding it. CONSTITUTION:Alloy cast steel for a tool contg. a network eutectic carbide is heated to the solidus line temp. - the solidus line temp. + 50 deg.C and held for about 1-100hr. The alloy cast steel is preferably held at the solidus line temp. + 20 deg.C - the solidus line temp. + 40 deg.C for about 5-20hr. By the heat treatment, the shape of the network eutectic carbide is changed and the wear and heat check resistances are improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and toughness by heating and holding a high-chromium cast iron in a specific temp. range then cooling the same thereby changing the shape itself of the eutectic carbide. CONSTITUTION:The high-chromium cast iron is heated and held to and in the temp. region higher by 80 deg.C than the solidus line from the solidus line and is then cooled. The solidus line refers to the solidification end temp. determined from a thermal analysis cooling curve when the sample at about 60 deg.C is heated and melted in gaseous Ar and is then cooled at about 20 deg.C/min rate. The holding time varies with a heat treatment temp. and is preferably about 2-10hr. The atmosphere is preferably an inert or reducing atmosphere and the cooling rate is optionally selected by the size of the material to be heat-treated and the required base structure. The aggregation and granulation of the eutectic carbide are thereby made possible and the wear resistance and toughness are improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent slip between rolls during accelerated and decelerated rolling and to enable the rolling mill to make stationary rolling at a high speed and high draft by controlling the supply rate of a rolling mill lubricant so as to increase or decrease said rate according to the rolling speed. CONSTITUTION:The rolling speed is detected by a tachometer 3 connected to a roll driving motor 2 of a rolling mill 1 of a backup roll driving system. The supply rate of the rolling mill lubricant discharged from a feed pump 5 for the rolling mill lubricant is controlled by a speed control device 4 of the pump 5 and the rolling mill lubricant is injected to the mill 1 and a strip 9 from nozzles 8. The strip is thus rolled without generation of a slip owing to the excessive lubrication during accelerated and decelerated rolling and a heat scratch owing to the deficient lubrication in the stationary rolling stage at a high speed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable annealing without undergoing cleaning and provide the clean surfaces free from carbon stains by coating the material which exhibits a minimum azeotropic phenomenon with the rolling oil deposited on steel plate surfaces and annealing the steel plate. CONSTITUTION:The material which exhibits a minimum azerotropic phenomenon with the high-lubricity rolling oil deposited on the surfaces of the steel plate after cold rolling is coated by a ameans such as spray coating provided within the rolling line or in an other simple line and the steel plate is annealed in that state. An azeotropic phenomenon occurs with the high-lubricity rolling oil and coated material in the high-temperature atmosphere during annealing, by which the remaining of the rolling oil on the steel plate surfaces is prevented and the cold rolled steel plate having clean surfaces is obtained. The coating material is at least one kind of hydrocabons, alcohols, ketones, amines, and esters of fatty acids or dibasic acids.
