    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a photorecording medium having high sensitivity, deletion rate and C/N by providing a recording layer which is formed using tellurium of a single crystal as a main component of a recording material, blended with a non-reactive chemical compound on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The subject photorecording medium consists of a recording layer formed using a blend of a substantially continuous recording material of tellurium of a single crystal as a main crystalline component, and a substantially non-reactive chemical compound additive to said recording materials, laminated with a derivative layer, on a substrate. The recording materials of the recording layer is a chalchogen compound based on Te which takes at least, two states, crystal and non-crystal, with a crystal materials. In addition, the additive blended in the recording layer are, for example, ZnS, SiO2, etc. The dielectric layer should preferably be formed using an inorganic film such as ZnS or Al2O3. The technique to form the recording layer on the substrate is such as vacuum evaporation, ion plating or sputtering.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium low in toxicity of a recording layer, requiring low power for recording and capable of high speed deletion of a record, by specifying the composition of the recording layer of an optical recording medium comprising the recording layer on a substrate and capable of recording, reproduction and deletion of information by irradiating the recording layer with light. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a recording layer is in the range of the formula (SbX Te100-X)100-YInY, in an optical recording medium comprising the recording layer on a substrate and capable of recording, reproduction and deletion of information by irradiating the recording layer with light. In the formula, X is a number satisfying 70>X>65, Y is a number satisfying 7>=Y>=1, the numbers X and 100-X inside the parentheses are respectively atomic ratios of Sb and Te, and the numbers 100-Y and Y outside the parentheses are respectively the total atom% of Te end the total atom% of In. Namely, Y=100X(the number of atoms of In)/(the total number of atoms of all constituents in the formula) and 100-Y=100X(the sum of the numbers of atoms of Sb and Te)/(the total number of atoms of all constituents in the formula). The optical recording medium requires low power for recording, is capable of high- speed deletion of a record, is high in thermal stability of recorded marks, and has excellent resistant to moist heat.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the rate of erasure and jitter characteristics by forming a laminated body consisting of at least a transparent substrate, a 1st dielectric layer, a recording layer, a 2nd dielectric layer, a high refractive index layer and a light absorbing layer. CONSTITUTION:In this optical recording medium, the quantity of light absorbed in the recording layer in an amorphous state is reduced and can be made equal to or larger than that in a crystalline state by newly disposing a laminated part consisting of a high refractive index layer and a light absorbing layer in place of the conventional reflecting layer. As a result, difference in temp. rise at the time of recording is reduced, the deformation of recording marks and a shift of formation positions can be suppressed and erasing characteristics and jitter characteristics can be imporved. Even after recording and erasure are repeated many times, action is stable and the deterioration of the characteristics and the occurrence of defects are hardly caused.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the recording sensitivity and to suppress changes in film properties of a recording layer or deterioration of performance of an optical recording medium consisting of a substrate, recording layer, and dielectric layer by incorporating an oxide and carbon into the dielectric layer. CONSTITUTION:The dielectric layer used for this recording medium consists of at least an oxide and carbon so that the inner stress of the dielectric layer is decreased. Thereby, the obtd. optical recording medium has little mechanical change such as warpage. Further, excellent adhesion strength with the recording layer is obtd. so that peeling of films or cracks can be suppressed. By an observation of the dielectric film such as SiO2 with addition of carbon (SiO2-C) by TEM(transmission electron microscope), it is found that the film is a uniform amorphous film and has no grain boundary which are apt to become the passage for oxygen and water. Thereby, changes of film properties or deterioration of performance of the recording layer can be suppressed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To remarkably, improve the degree of freedoms when an optical recording medium is optically designed. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium has a recording layer and a dielectric layer on a substrate. The dielectric layer contains a composite compound containing at least chalcogen compound, fluoride and carbon (C). Accordingly, since an internal stress generated in the dielectric layer can be reduced, a mechanical deformation such as warpage is small and mechanical characteristics are excellent. Further, adhesive strength of the dielectric layer and the recording layer is excellent. Peeling, a crack of the film are eliminated. Long term reliability is obtained. In the case of an optical recording medium which can be repeatedly recorded and erased, repeatability of recording/erasing is satisfactory. In addition, the refractive index of the dielectric layer can be controlled.
