Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fresh water generating method using reverse osmotic separation by which the water generating cost is reduced and a stable operation is enabled for a long period. SOLUTION: In this fresh water generating method by which raw water is raised in pressure and fed to plural reverse osmosis membrane module units 2, 4 containing reverse osmosis membrane elements to obtain permeated water, a membrane surface flow rate of raw water is controlled at >=0.03 m/s.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse osmosis composite membrane which is designed to prevent the decrease of the amount of filtrate even when the operation returns from a high pressure stable operation to a low pressure stable operation in the reverse osmosis separation of seawater. SOLUTION: A base material 2A, a support membrane 2B having communication holes 2b, and a separation function layer 2C are laminated in turn to form the reverse osmosis composite membrane. When, after a pressure of 5.5 MPa in the thickness direction is applied to the membrane for 3 h and the application is lifted, the average thickness of the support membrane is t0 (μm), and the permeation coefficient of pure water is P1 (g/cm2.s.MPa), and after a pressure of 10 MPa in the thickness direction is subsequently applied to the membrane for 3 h and the application is lifted, the average thickness of the support membrane is t1 (μm), and the permeation coefficient of pure water is p0 (g/ cm2.s.MPa), t0, p0, t1, and p1 simultaneously meet formulas: 0.7

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent liquid separation element without decreasing performance such as the flow rate of a permeated liquid or the inhibiting rate for a wide pressure range from low to high by disposing water-permeable cloth between a reverse osmosis membrane and a passage material for the liquid. SOLUTION: Multifilaments of a polyester fiber are knitted into a double denbidh structure and molten and welded, hardened and calendered to obtain a single tricot with specified width, depth and density of grooves. Further, a nonwoven fabric of a polyester short fiber is calendered to obtain a water- permeable nonwoven fabric having specified thickness, surface average roughness and permeability. The nonwoven fabric is laminated on the groove surface of the single tricot fabric to obtain a passage material for the permeated liquid in such a manner that the orientation direction of the fiber of the nonwoven fabric is perpendicular to the groove direction of the single tricot. The obtd. passage material 10 for the permeated liquid is disposed between two reverse osmosis membranes 1, and then a water-permeable nonwoven fabric 11 is disposed. Thereby, an enough passage can be maintained even under high pressure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically obtain fresh water from seawater without wasting energy by the optimization of energy and the enhancement of the utilization efficiency of energy necessary for driving an apparatus by obtaining fresh water from seawater using the heat generated by the incineration of waste. SOLUTION: The reverse osmosis membrane seawater desalting apparatus is constituted by providing at least a waste incineration boiler 1, a part converting heat generated by incinerating waste to power, a steam turbine 2, a dynamo 3, an intake part of supplied seawater 10, a part of a high pressure pump 5 and a part of a reverse osmosis membrane unit 6. The seawater 10 taken in from the intake part is pressurized by the high pressure pump 6 driven by the power obtained by converting the heat generated by the waste incineration boiler 1, which is sent to the reverse osmosis membrane unit 6 to be separated into conc. seawater 11 conc. in salt component and fresh water 12. Heat energy is converted to kinetic energy by the steam turbine 2 to directly operate the high pressure pump 5.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a good conversion ratio of NOx in an apparatus for treating engine exhaust gas in which a zeolite catalyst is arranged on the upstream side of an exhaust system by arranging a unit for removing water in the exhaust gas consisting of a water vapor separation membrane. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus for treating engine exhaust gas in which a zeolite catalyst 5 is arranged on the upstream side of an exhaust system, a unit for removing water in the exhaust gas consisting of a water vapor separation membrane 3 is arranged upstream from the zeolite catalyst 5. The membrane 3 is preferably made of a ceramic material. The water content of the exhaust gas discharged from the water removing unit is low enough so that the zeolite catalyst which is arranged on the downstream side of an exhaust system is not deactivated by water. Since the amount of CO and HC, reducing components necessary for the NOx removal of the zeolite catalyst, does not change at all even after passing through the water removing unit, NOx can be removed efficiently.
