    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the efficient preparation of the poly(butylene terephthalate)(PBT) containing little alien substance with little byproduct of THF. SOLUTION: The process for the preparation of PBT, comprising the esterification of terephthalic acid and 1,4-butan diol and then the polycondensation thereof, is characterized by carrying out the above esterification at two or more steps, the first step of which esterification is carried out continuously in a way that a molar ratio of the diol component to the dicarboxylic acid component is made to be in the range of more than 0.7 to less than 1.1, and the second or more steps of which esterification undergoes a continuous esterification by adding additionally the remained diol component.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a polyester having a concentration of carboxy terminal groups lower than that by a conventional method, excellent in hydrolysis resistance, and also excellent in toughness of the resin. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyester comprising carrying out an esterification reaction or an ester-interchange reaction of a dicarboxylic acid or an ester-forming derivative thereof, with a diol component consisting essentially of 1,4-butanediol in the presence of a catalyst, and subjecting the product to a polycondensation reaction is characterized in that an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal phosphate is added to the reaction mixture at an arbitrary step before finishing the polycondensation reaction.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polybutylene terephthalate having improved quality by which, when terephthalic acid containing acetic acid, and 1,4-butanediol are used as raw materials, and an esterification reaction and a polycondensation reaction following the reaction are carried out, the retardation of the polycondensation can be extremely reduced to carry out the polycondensation reaction smoothly, and the 1,4-butanediol distilled off at the polycondensation reaction can be effectively recovered and utilized in the esterification step as it is. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polybutylene terephthalate by subjecting the terephthalic acid containing the acetic acid and the 1,4-butanediol to the esterification reaction, and further subjecting the reaction product to the polycondensation reaction is characterized in that an alkaline compound is added to the reaction mixture at an arbitrary step before finishing the polycondensation reaction.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition excellent in moldability, durability and chemical resistance, and, in a preferable embodiment, excellent in toughness and heat resistance, and to provide a molded product made from the composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition is obtained by compounding 100 pts.wt. of a polylactic acid resin with less than 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin other than the polylactic acid resin. This resin composition has such a phase structure that the polylactic acid resin and the other thermoplastic resin represent dispersed phase and continuous phase respectively. The molded product made from the resin composition is also provided. In this resin composition, it is preferable that the ratio of the melt viscosity of the polylactic acid resin to that of the other thermoplastic resin be greater than 1, wherein the melt viscosity is measured at 190°C and at a shearing rate of 60 s -1 , and the other thermoplastic resin be a polyolefin resin, especially including polypropylene resin.
