Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red color light emitting device having high luminosity and high color purity. SOLUTION: The light emitting device contains a pyromethene compound of a formula 1 or its metal complex. R1 to R3 are such, they may be the same or differ, hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, cycloalkinyl, hydroxyl group, mercapte, alkoxy, alkylthio, arylether, arylthioether, aryl, heterocyclic-ring group, halogen, haloalkane, haloalkene, haloalkyne, cyano, aldehyde, carbonyl, carboxyl, ester, a carbamoyl, amino, nitro, silyl, siloxanyl group, or aromatic group, fatty series, or condenced ring of heterocyclic ring formed between adjacent substitution groups. X1 and X2 may be the same or may differ, show single bond, substituted/nonsubstituted alkylene bond, ether bond, sulfide bond, substituted/nonsubstituted amino bond, ester bond or carbonyl bond. Ar1 and Ar2 express substituted/nonsubstited aryl group.
