    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new fiber, containing crystalline and amorphous carbon and silicon-carbon-oxygen substances in a specific proportion as components and excellent in oxidation resistance and wettability for plastics with a high electric conductivity and a small thermal expansion coefficient. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber is obtained by mixing (A) an organosilicon polymer prepared by heating dimethylchlorosilane, etc., in an inert gas with (B) a polycyclic aromatic compound such as petroleum-based pitch, reacting both at, e.g. 250-500 deg.C, providing a random copolymer, mixing the resultant random copolymer with (C) a polyacrylonitrile-based polymer, spinning the prepared mixture and then infusibilizing and burning the spun fiber.
