    Abstract: Apparatus for extruding a pliable, thin-walled tube comprising an extrusion and shaping die assembly comprising an annular die body, a mandrel supported within the annular die body, a mandrel extension mounted on the mandrel adjacent the die outlet, the mandrel extension having a diameter less than the diameter of the mandrel, a sizing disk supported by the mandrel extension, and means to supply molten polymeric material to the die assembly under pressure to force the material through an annular extrusion flow channel around the mandrel and out the die outlet thereby forming a moving tube of the material, the mandrel extension extending outwardly from the die in the direction in which the tube isextruded, the annular die body having at least one fluid passageway to channel fluid introduced under pressure into the annular die body axially through the mandrel and outwardly from the axis of the mandrel extension to form an air pillow adapted to cool and support the tube around and spaced from the mandrel extension, and the sizing disk being adapted to restrict escape of the fluid and to define a chamber in cooperation with the tube of the molten polymeric material for confining the air pillow around the mandrel extension. This apparatus may be employed in a process to prepare a pliable, thin-walled tube.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner composition comprising toner particles having good toner releasability, stripper-finger performance and document-offset property.
    SOLUTION: The toner particles in the toner composition comprise resin, wax and optionally colorants, and the wax is substantially excluded from the interior core of the toner particles. Processes for preparing such toner particles comprise the steps of providing an aqueous dispersion of resin particles and optionally colorants, mixing the aqueous dispersion in presence of a coagulant, aggregating to form particles, coalescing to form fused particles, and removing the fused particles from the aqueous dispersion. Wax dispersions can be added either after mixing or during aggregation, so that wax is excluded from the core of the toner particles.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide wax emulsion for an emulsion aggregation toner containing wax, with the generation of protrusions suppressed.
    SOLUTION: The wax emulsion contains polyethylene wax and one or more surfactants in an aqueous medium, wherein the polyethylene wax has a degree of crystallinity of up to about 50% to about 80% by mass of the polyethylene wax. The wax emulsion is prepared, by emulsifying the polyethylene wax, one or more surfactants and an aqueous medium in a vessel at a temperature at or higher than the melting point of the polyethylene wax to form an emulsified product, and subsequently, cooling the emulsified product to ambient temperature at a cooling rate of at least 10°C/minutes. The wax emulsion is preferably incorporated into toner particles that are prepared by emulsion/aggregation/coalescing.
