    Abstract: Es werden ein System und ein Verfahren bereitgestellt, um eine fehlerhafte Tintenstrahlauswurfeinrichtung in einem Zieldruckkopf in einem Tintenstrahlbilderzeugungssystem zu kompensieren, das mehrere Druckköpfe aufweist, die so angeordnet sind, dass sie eine maximale Druckbreite überspannen, wobei eine typische Druckbreite, die kleiner als die maximale Druckbreite ist, festgelegt wird und wobei der Zieldruckkopf durch einen Druckkopf ersetzt wird, der in dem Randbereich außerhalb der typischen Druckbreite angeordnet ist. Das System und das Verfahren erlauben das Ersetzen des Zieldruckkopfs durch einen Druckkopf in dem Randbereich, der eine fehlerhafte Tintenstrahlauswurfeinrichtung aufweist, vorausgesetzt, dass die Position der fehlerhaften Tintenstrahlauswurfeinrichtung in dem Randbereichsdruckkopf nicht mit der Position einer fehlerhaften Tintenstrahlauswurfeinrichtung in Druckköpfen benachbart zu dem Zieldruckkopf übereinstimmt oder dazu ausgerichtet ist.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a color printer including an image bearing member (10) having an imageable surface (11) for movement along a preselected path, at least a first imaging assembly (26,30) for forming sets of multiple black toner registration marks on different areas of the imageable surface, and for forming second sets of multiple non-black toner registration marks corresponding respectively to black marks in each set of the first sets of black marks so as to create a series of sets of multicolor registration marks. Each of the second sets is formed thus in accordance with a predetermined different condition of image misregistration relative to the corresponding first set of black toner marks. The color printer also includes a light source (142) for producing a wide area beam (172) to illuminate each set of the series of sets of multicolor marks, and a wide area beam (WAB) sensor (146) for measuring scattered or diffuse light (174) reflected from each set of the illuminated series of sets of multicolor marks, and for producing an actual light reflectance measurement value (Ca) from each such illuminated set. The printer further includes a comparing device for determining a degree of actual image misregistration by comparing each of the actual light reflectance measurement values with a stored predetermined registration offset value (Cp) corresponding to a predetermined condition of image misregistration for each illuminated set of multicolor marks. Mechanisms (137,138,139) are included in the printer for adjusting an imaging parameter of an imaging assembly responsively to the determined condition of actual misregistration so as to correct for the determined actual misregistration.

    Abstract: An electrophotographic printing apparatus comprising a photoreceptor (12) and an electrically biassed developer roll (56). Means (66) are provided for sensing the current biassing the developer roll (56) and for generating a proportional control signal for regulating a processing station. Preferably it is the discharge of toner which is regulated. Before the control signal is applied, it is modified by a further signal sampled at selected intervals. The further signal may be generated by either (a) a densitometer (24) measuring the mass to area ratio of the developer deposited on a test area of the photoreceptor (12); or (b) a voltage probe adjacent the photoreceptor. In an alternative embodiment the main control signal is generated by the voltage probe and is modified at selected intervals by the signal from the current sensing means (66).

    Abstract: An apparatus in which an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member is developed with toner. A magnetic roll cooperates with a donor roll to define a nip therebetween. The magnetic roll advances a developer material comprising carrier and toner to the nip where a substantially constant amount of toner having a substantially constant triboelectric charge is deposited on the donor roll. A plurality of electrode wires are positioned in the space between the donor roll and the photoconductive member. The electrodes are electrically biased to detach the toner from the donor roll so as to form a toner cloud in the space between the electrodes and photoconductive member. Detached toner from the toner cloud develops the latent image.
