Abstract: A color electrophotographic printing machine (8) which uses 5 cycles of a photoreceptor (10) to produce a color image. In the first cycle, the photoreceptor is erased (18), charged (20,22), exposed (24,26) to create a first electrostatic latent representation, and developed (E) with a first color of toner (30). In the second cycle, the photoreceptor is recharged (20,22) using a split recharging scheme, exposed (24,26) to light to create a second electrostatic latent representation, and developed (F) with a second color of toner (32). In the third cycle the photoreceptor is recharged (20,22) using a split recharging scheme, exposed (24,26) to create a third latent representation, and developed (G) using a third color of toner (34). In the fourth cycle, the photoreceptor is recharged (20,22) using a split recharging scheme, exposed (24,26) to create a fourth latent representation, and developed (H) with a fourth color of toner (36). In the fifth cycle, the photoreceptor and the four toner layers are exposed to a pretransfer erase lamp (18), charged (20) to assist in transfer, transferred onto a substrate (38) using a corona generating device (22). The substrate is separated from the photoreceptor and passed through a fusing station (42,44). Meanwhile the photoreceptor is cleaned (48) in preparation for printing another image.

Abstract: Es ist ein Verfahren zur Kompensierung defekter Düsen in einer 3D-Objektdrucker entwickelt worden. Ein Drucker erkennt eine defekte Düse in einem Druckkopf. Der Drucker identifiziert funktionierende Düsen, die an Stellen neben den Stellen drucken, an denen die defekte Düse keinen Tropfen druckt. Der Drucker modifiziert Zündsignale für die funktionierenden Düsen, so dass jene Düsen Tropfen mit einer vergrößerten Tropfenvolumen an den Stellen neben den Stellen drucken, an denen die defekte Düse keinen Tropfen druckt. Der Drucker druckt eine erste Schicht von Materialtropfen unter Verwendung der modifizierten Zündsignale. Der Drucker schaltet den Druckkopf in der Querprozessrichtung zwischen den Schichten weiter, so dass die Stellen, an denen die defekte Düse keinen Tropfen druckt, zwischen den Schichten nicht zusammenfallen.

Abstract: A method of operating a printer enables compensation parameters to be generated and stored in association with system conditions detected at the time of the compensation parameter generation. Abstract: A method enables a controller to align print heads in a plurality of print heads in a printer. The method includes identifying a first cross-process position for each print head with reference to image data of a test pattern printed by the print heads on a media substrate, identifying a second cross-process position for each print head, calculating a print head cross-process position error between the identified first cross-process position and the identified second cross-process position for each print head, comparing a maximum print head cross-process position error to a predetermined threshold, and operating a plurality of actuators with reference to the calculated position errors to reposition the print heads in response to the maximum position error being equal to or less than the predetermined threshold. The application also describes a printer configured to undertake such a method.
