Abstract:
A transportable apparatus for performing cardiovascular training, including: an exercise device that is adapted to enable a user to perform a specific motion pattern; an ergometer that provides an indication of the amount of work performed by the user of the exercise device; an alarm system that provides an indication to the user responsive to the readings of the ergometer; wherein the alarm system is preprogrammed to provide indications responsive to one or more readings of the ergometer based on the results of a cardiorespiratory exercise test performed on the user with the exercise device.
Abstract:
A stretching and exercise device has a first strap member having a pair of end portions, a second strap member having a pair of end portions, and a pair of resistance members connected between respective end portions of the first and second strap members. A third strap member has a pair of end portions attached to respective first and second surface portions of the second strap member. A fourth strap member is attached to a third surface portion of the second strap member different from the first and second surface portions thereof.
Abstract:
A device for assessing and display of a difference in vectors of forces exercised by a pair of arms or legs of exercising persons, e. g. patients suffering from a damage of the musculoskeletal or nervous system or sportsmen comprises a housing (1) with preferably two means (2) for a participation with a pair of limbs - arms or legs, wherein the means (2) are designed in various ways with the purpose to allow proper participation with the treated pair of limbs in an individual exercise, and are arranged on bearings (3) within the housing (1), further comprising a microcontroller (8) and optionally a computer (13), the Internet (14) for connection to an expert centre (15). Each means (2) is connected with a means (4) for the measurement of forces (F). The device of the invention further includes an accelerometer (5), a gyroscope (6) and a magnetometer (7) for the determination of its position and orientation in space, wherein all data from said means (4), said accelerometer (5), said gyroscope (6) and magnetometer (7) are gathered by said microcontroller (8) that evaluates them with models and algorithms, and said data are continuously displayed on a display (9), a monitor or a TV screen, notifying the exercising person on the exercising status and suggesting next steps.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a rehabilitative training device for use with a stroke patient includes a first component that is operatively coupled to a first body part (unaffected body part) of the patient and a second component that is operatively coupled to a second body part (affected body part) of the patient. The first component and second component are operatively coupled to one another such that motion of the first component as a result of movement of the first body part by the user causes the second component and second body part to move in a symmetrical motion.
Abstract:
An orthopedic brace for supporting a shoulder and an arm of a patient can comprise a sleeve, a pad, a pillow, and a system of adjustable straps for positioning and securing the sleeve in a desired position for treatment. The pad can comprise a plurality of pockets for accepting hot or cold compresses therein for providing thermal therapy, and can be removable from the brace to be used in isolation along other parts of the body. The adjustable straps can be replaced with tensile straps, and the sleeve can be positioned along different points of the patient's body to allow the patient to conduct various patient driven exercises, including patient driven range of motion or strengthening exercises.
Abstract:
A patient mobility aid provides support for an upper extremity of an associated user. The patient mobility aid includes a frame, and at least first and second wheels operatively secured to and supporting the frame for selective rolling movement. First and second support assemblies are located on first and second sides of the frame, respectively. A reverse motion linkage operatively associated with the first and second support assemblies, the reverse motion linkage including a first state configured to provide independent between the first and second support assemblies, and a second state configured to provide interrelated movement between the first and second support assemblies.
Abstract:
Stationary RRE apparatus (10, 11, 240) comprises a supporting tripod structure (14), a pulley supported leg, an arm supporting rope lines (26, 28) coupled to leg, arm drive belts (32, 34) that are, in turn, coupled to leg, and arm drive sprockets (40, 42). The drive sprockets are operatively coupled to either an energy dissipative hydraulic assembly (100, 170) or an energy dissipative electric assembly (242) utilized for providing selected dissipative loading for motions thereof.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a therapy and training device (10) for a specific, guided movement of the knee joint, comprising two calf supports (35, 36) positioned on a guide assembly (11). Said calf supports (35, 36) are connected to a transmission element (28) of the guide assembly by means of joining devices (23, 24). The transmission element (28) connects the calf supports (35, 36) in such a way that they move in relation to one another. Thus, a swinging movement of one calf as a result of the user bending his/her knee causes a swinging movement of the other calf in the opposite direction. A lever (34) is provided to connect the calf supports (35, 36) to the joining devices (23, 24), said lever triggering a righting movement (Gxh) around the center of rotation (45) of the joint of the joining device (23, 24) concerned. Said righting movement counteracts the leg being stretched from the point of view of the direction of rotation.
Abstract:
A walking aid assembly stimulating a rotation of a dorsal body portion during a walking movement of a user comprises a frame member (2); a left pole (3A) and a right pole (3B) comprising a handle (4A,4B) for gripping the pole by the user; left back (6A) and front (5A) wheels connected to a left side portion (2A) of the frame member, and right back (6B) and front (5B) wheels connected to a right side portion (2B) of the frame member. The left pole and the right pole are coupled to each other such that a movements of the left pole and the right pole are opposite. Bottom ends of the left pole and the right pole are moveably connected to the frame member, allowing the left pole and the right pole each, in its entirety, to move with respect to the frame member between a forward position and a backward position.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device or apparatus for aiding in upper extremity rehabilitation treatment. The apparatus is a portable mobile rehabilitation device which has first and second arms attached to the central fulcrum of a tabletop platform which is supported by a height adjustable side pillar and base piece. Each arm has 3 links or segments attached at the ends by detachable and adjustable rotating support which are termed as joints. The distal end of each arm has an end-effector which is a hand hold module that is attached to the distal part of the subject arm. The proximal end of each arm is attached to the central fulcrum. The arms along with the modules will provide support for the patient to move the arm at different joints either by passive movement or active assist movement.
