Abstract:
A snap-together, all-plastic filter assembly (20) for filtering fluids includes a generally cylindrical injection molded plastic outer shell (21) which has a closed base (36) and an open opposite end (35) and which defines a hollow interior which receives a filtering element (23) and an integral injection molded plastic end plate/center tube member (22). The outer shell is injection molded with a pair of concentric, generally cylindrical, inner annular walls (28a, 29a) which are integral with the closed base and extend part way toward the open end of the outer shell. The filtering element which has a hollow interior fits down within the outermost of the two concentric annular walls (29a) and the center tube of the end plate/center tube member extends through the center of the filtering element and snaps in place by means of snap-fit pockets (28b, 28c) disposed within the innermost of the two concentric annular walls.

Abstract:
In a case structure for a fluid pressure device, a filter (12) that constitutes part of a fluid pressure unit (10) is equipped with a first body (20), a case unit (22) connected to a lower portion of the first body (20), and a filter unit (24) accommodated in the interior of the case unit (22). The case unit (22) is made up from an outer case (40), which is formed as a bottomed cylinder from a light-permeable transparent material, and an inner case (42) inserted into the interior of the outer case (40). Additionally, by insertion of the case unit (22) into an installation hole (36) that opens on a lower portion of the first body (20) and rotating the case unit (22), projections (58) and retaining walls (56) provided on an outer circumferential surface of the case unit (22) engage with support members (38) provided in the installation hole (36), thus placing the case unit (22) in a connected state.
Abstract:
The present disclosure pertains to a fluid filter having integral attachment means which may take the form of a threaded portion of a filter cartridge. The threaded portion threadably interacts with a complementary threaded portion of a filter mounting to retain the filter cartridge to the filter mounting. The disclosure also pertains to a fluid filter having a cartridge made from two plastic shells welded together. The disclosure also pertains to a fluid filter with filter media positioned within a filter cartridge by an end cap with extending ribs welded to one of the two shells which compose the filter cartridge.
Abstract:
A drain assembly for a fluid filter (12) includes a female valve portion (26) unitary with an end wall (22) of a collection bowl (14), and having a socket (30) with a cylindrical sidewall and an inner end wall. The end wall (22) includes a plug (38), and a vent opening (40) radially outward from the plug (38). A drain opening (44) is provided in the end wall (22) radially outward from the socket (30). An annular sealing surface (48) is provided radially outward from the drain opening (44). A threaded sleeve (50) is provided radially outward from the annular sealing surface (48). A male valve portion (28) is received in the female valve portion (26), and includes a valve body (60) and a valve seal (62). The valve seal (62) is received in the socket (30) and includes a cylindrical sidewall (66) defining a vent passage (67), and an inner end (68) with a vent opening (72) to the vent passage (67). An annular sealing surface (78) is provided radially outward from the sidewall (66) of the valve seal (62). The sealing surface (78) on the valve body (60) is sealable against the sealing surface (48) on the bowl end wall (22), and has an outer diameter sufficient to cover the drain opening (44). The valve body (60) has a drain passage (79) radially outward from the valve seal (62). The valve body (60) includes a threaded sleeve (85) radially outward from the annular drain passage (79) in the valve body. The threaded sleeve (85) of the valve body (60) cooperates with the threaded sleeve (50) of the female valve portion (26) to enable the male valve portion (28) to be screwed into and outwardly from the female valve portion (26).
Abstract:
Fluid filtration system has a visual flow rate meter (10). The flow rate meter (10) includes a bifilar wire (56) that connects an impeller (24) to a housing (14) to bias the impeller (24). The impeller (24) has a surface with angularly spaced color-coded regions (72, 74, 76). The quick-release fitting (132) attaches to and receives fluid flowing from a manually actuatable diverter body (130) that is attachable to a faucet waterspout (104). The fitting (132) carries a pivotally mounted lever arm (168). The flow rate meter (10) and the diverter (100) are in fluid communication with a manifold (200) that is releasably securable to a cartridge filter (198) that includes a filter element (204) enclosed in a housing (202) and an outlet tube (212) that are matable with a push-in fitting (226) in at least one of the outlet (212) and inlet (210) of the manifold (200). A lever mechanism (230) pivotally mounted to the manifold (200) pushes against the push-in fitting (226) in response to a force applied to the lever (168) by a user to separate the housing (202) from the manifold (200).
Abstract:
An all-plastic filter assembly (250) for filtering fluids includes a generally cylindrical injection molded plastic outer shell (251) which has a closed base and an open opposite end and which defines a hollow interior which receives a modular filter cartridge (263). The outer shell is injection molded with a generally cylindrical mounting stem (259) which is integral with the closed base and extends part way toward the open end of the outer shell. The filter cartridge includes a generally cylindrical filter element and a molded end plate (265) and center tube member (274) bonded to the filter element. The center tube portion of the molded member is received by the mounting stem as a part of the positioning and mounting of the filter cartridge into the outer shell.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a filter device for use in fuel dispensing systems can comprise an inspection element that permits visual observation of fuel that flows inside of the system. The filter device can include a body with a wall that forms a filter chamber. The wall can have one or more apertures that couple with a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet to allow fuel to flow into and about the filter chamber. In one embodiment, the body includes a boss member with a bore that penetrates the wall to expose the filter chamber. The inspection element includes an optical element that fits within the bore and a retaining element that secures to the boss member to retain the optical element therein.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a filter 1, particularly suitable for use as an inline filter in a central heating system. The filter 1 comprises a housing 2 having fluid inlet 3, a fluid outlet 4, a filter element 6a positioned in a fluid flow path between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet; and a magnet 8, wherein an inlet chamber 11 is defined in the housing 2 between the inlet 3 and the filter element 6. The magnet 8 is located downstream of the filter element 6a and is moveable between a first position "8" where the magnetic field of the magnet retain s any magnetic particles in the inlet chamber 11 against the filter 6 and a second position 8' where the magnetic field of the magnet 8 does not act to retain a magnetic particles in the inlet chamber 11 against the filter element 6a. This permits the magnet to be moved to the second position 8' to release trapped magnetic particles from the filter element by reverse flushing the filter 1.
