Abstract:
The present invention relates to modified catalyst supports, to processes for making modified catalyst supports, and to chemical processes employing catalysts that comprise such modified catalyst supports. The modified catalyst support comprises a first metal, a second metal and a support modifier on a support, wherein the support modifier comprises a support modifier metal selected from the group consisting of tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, and tantalum.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns the elimination of heavy metals, in particular mercury and possibly arsenic and lead, present in a gaseous or liquid effluent by means of a fixed bed process using an adsorbent in the form of monolithic or supported extrudates, said extrudates being characterized by a length h and a section comprising at least three lobes. The adsorbent is composed of at least one active phase based on sulphur in the elemental form or in the form of a metallic sulphide. The invention is advantageously applicable to the treatment of gas of industrial origin, synthesis gas, natural gas, gas phase condensates and liquid hydrocarbon feeds.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an adsorbent precipitated on a carrier and to a method for producing said adsorbent. The carrier comprises a polymer-based spherical activated charcoal. The adsorbent comprises an inorganic precipitate capable of adsorbing a metal cation or a mixture of metal cations from a liquid, preferably aqueous, medium. The adsorbent precipitated on a carrier is used to remove, for example, Cs+ from water containing Cs+, in particular from water contaminated with radiotoxic 137Cs+.
Abstract:
Provided in one embodiment is a method of making an aerogel, comprising: (A) increasing a concentration of a suspension comprising a gel precursor under a condition that promotes formation of a gel, wherein the gel precursor comprises particulates having an asymmetric geometry; and (B) removing a liquid from the gel to form the aerogel, wherein the aerogel and the gel have substantially the same geometry. An aerogel comprising desirable properties are also provided.
Abstract:
There are provided a nanowire filter, a method for manufacturing the same, a filtering apparatus having the same, and a method for removing material adsorbed on the nanowire filter. The filtering apparatus includes: a filter having a supporting member and a plurality of nanowires supported on the supporting member and arranged in a crystallized state; and a body into which the filter is inserted and secured, and which has an inlet for guiding an introduced fluid to the filter and an outlet for discharging the fluid filtered through the filter to the outside.
Abstract:
The disclosed sorbents are for adsorbing sulfur compounds, particularly sulfur-containing aromatic compounds, from liquid hydrocarbon fuels such as gasoline, cracked gasoline, diesel, high sulfur liquid fossil fuels, ultra-low sulfur fuel (ULSF) in fuel cell applications, and mixtures thereof. The sorbent compositions comprise one or more silicates having one or more metal nitrates admixed together. The one or more metal nitrates include iron (II) or (III), zinc (II), cadmium (II) and mercury (II) nitrate. The method of preparing and using the sorbents is also provided.
Abstract:
A process is provided for selectively separating oxygen from an oxygen-containing fluid stream by bringing said fluid stream into contact with a high capacity solid state cyanocobaltate complex in a non-aluminosilicate environment represented by the chemical formula:A.sub.X/Z.sup.Z+ [Co(CN).sub.n ].sup.X- .cndot.pSwhere:A is an alkali, alkaline earth, transition, or Group 12 metal atom;Z is 1, 2 or 3;n is any number from 3 to 5;X is n-2;p is any number from greater than zero to 6; andS is a ligand which is capable of coordinating with A.sup.Z+, Co or both. These complexes chemically bind oxygen to form novel oxygen adducts, thereby selectively removing oxygen from the fluid stream. The bound oxygen may be recovered by increasing the temperature or by reducing the partial pressure of O.sub.2 above the adduct.
Abstract:
Abstract:
