A feeding lubricant for use on a welding electrode comprises about 10 to 40 wt.% of at least one soap-based lubricant, about 40 to 90 wt.% of at least one solid particulate lubricant selected from MoS 2 , WS 2 , ZnO, graphite and PTFE and up to 20 wt.% of at least one optional additional particulate lubricant ingredient.

Low bleed silicone grease compositions are prepared by blending high viscosity silicone oils with filler materials and/or silicone elastomers. Greases comprise three main types: I) grease comprising high viscosity silicone oil and filler material, II) grease comprising high viscosity silicone oil and silicone elastomer, and III) grease comprising high molecular weight silicone oil and filler material and silicone elastomer.

Adducts of clay, especially of the smectite variety, most especially bentonite, are prepared with an effective amount of at least one activated mixed metal oxide or oxy-hydroxide (AHMMO) formed by dehydrating hydrotalcite or a mixture comprising magnesium oxide and aluminum oxide, or a crystalline mixed metal hydroxide conforming substantially to the formula LimDdT(OH)(m+2d+3+n.a)(A )a.xH2O where m is zero to one, D is a divalent metal, d is from zero to 4, T is a trivalent metal, A represents at least one anion or negative-valence radical of valence n, where n is 1 or more, (m+2d+3+n.a) is equal to or greater than 3, (m+d) is greater than zero, and xH2O represents excess waters of hydration. These adducts are useful, e.g., in drilling muds and in viscosity modification of a wide variety of fluids.

In a synthetic resin-made thrust sliding bearing 1, a silicone grease whose base oil is a silicone oil, whose coefficient of kinematic viscosity at 25°C is not less than 100 cSt and not more than 500,000 cSt, and which contains a thickener so as to set its worked penetration to not less than 200 and not more than 400 is interposed at sliding interfaces between, on the one hand, an upper surface of a lower annular flat plate-shaped portion 202 defining a bottom surface of a lower annular recess 204 and a lower surface of an upper annular flat plate-shaped portion 102 and, on the other hand, an upper surface and a lower surface of a thrust bearing piece 300 which are respectively brought into sliding contact with the upper and the lower surface.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for lubricating high temperature metals that can make the degree of corrosion on a metal surface lower than in the case of using regular lubricating methods. SOLUTION: The method comprises bringing a metal surface into contact with an amorphous liquid hydrofluorocarbon co-telomer containing 30-65% of a monomer unit derived from hexafluoropropylene and having H:F molar ratio of 0.05:1. The viscosity of the liquid hydrofluorocarbon at 40°C is in a range of 1-10,000 cSt. Furthermore, a thickening agent comprising a fine powder of polytetrafluoroethylene, silica, molybdenum disulfide or graphite is blended together. Mm(R)v_r.(D)w_z2Al(OH)3.nH2O wherein A is one or more anions and/or negative-valence radicals or mixtures thereof; wherein, in formula I, x is a quantity of A ions or radicals sufficient to substantially satisfy the valence requirements of Li; wherein n is zero or the number of waters of hydration; wherein y is a numerical value at least sufficient to maintain the crystalline structure; wherein R is a monocarboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid of C6 C22, including those which are OH substituted; wherein r is greater than zero and represents the number of R ions in the molecule; wherein v is the valence of R, being monovalent or divalent; wherein M is divalent Zn or Ca cations; wherein D represents inorganic anions of valence 1-3, represented by w; wherein z is equal to or greater than zero and represents the number of D anions; wherein, in formula II, vr represents an amount of R anions to substantially satisfy the valence requirements of Li; wherein, in formula III, r>z and (vr + wz) represents an amount of combined anions, R and A, to substantially satisfy the valence requirements of M; with m representing the number of divalent M cations and having a numerical value in the range of 1 to 4, are found to improve the coefficient of friction and antiwear properties of lubrication fluids subjected to shearing, rubbing, or grinding forces at elevated pressure. The present invention provides a grease composition which is excellent in peel resistance, not to mention lubricity, as compared with the prior art products. A novel grease composition for rolling bearing is provided, comprising a base oil, an extender, an inorganic compound-based filler having an average particle diameter of not more than 2 mum and zinc dithiocarbamate.
