Abstract:
An improved secondary carpet backing fabric imparts increased resistance to buckling in carpets compared to conventional widely used secondary backings while providing the performance of conventional secondary carpet backings (e.g., similar peel strength, tuft bind, ease of handling). The improved backing is produced by a one-step weaving process and can be converted easily into carpet using current carpet making techniques. The inventive secondary carpet backing contains core-spun filling yarn with specific properties and is preferably woven in a leno or plain weave. Compared to carpets with conventional secondary backings, carpets with the inventive secondary backings display reduced growth in cyclic tensile testing.
Abstract:
A flexible composite laminate, which is fire resistant on either one or both sides, comprises: (a) a textile web substrate; and the following combination of successive layers on either one or on both sides of the substrate, namely: (b) a first discrete adhesive layer, to provide adhesive bonding between substrate (a) and a layer (c); (c) a layer superimposed upon the first discrete adhesive layer, which comprises at least one fire-resistance imparting inorganic substance in an amount effective to impart fire-resistance to a preselected degree to the substrate; (d) a second discrete adhesive layer on layer (c), to provide adhesive bonding between layer (c) and a sealing layer (e), as defined below; and (e) a hydrophobic sealing layer superimposed on the second discrete adhesive layer. The first adhesive layer may be optionally omitted when the substrate is a fiberglass substrate, and/or the second adhesive layer may be optionally avoided when the hydrophobic sealing layer is silicone-based. When layer (e) is e.g. PVC, it is found that the emission of smoke is reduced as compared with unlaminated PVC.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention provides a heat-resistant, laminated conveyer belt (14) comprising an reinforcing layer (11) obtained by impregnating fluoroplastic into a heat-resistant fiber base cloth, drying and sintering the base cloth and a wear-resistant layer (12), formed on the reinforcing layer (11), obtained by impregnating fluoroplastic into a base cloth formed by weaving heat-resistant fiber in the form of a knit weave, drying and sintering the base cloth, and its manufacturing method.
Abstract:
A coated textile material, particularly for use as a durable filter fabric, is made from a textile substrate, such as a woven fabric, having a microporous coating of an elastomeric fluorocarbon polymer. The substrate may be formed from aramid or polyphenylene sulphide or glass fibres. The elastomeric polymer may be a vinylidene fluoride pentafluoropropene tetrafluoroethylene terpolymer. The microporous coating may be applied as a foamed aqueous emulsion which is dried and mechanically crushed.
Abstract:
According to an example embodiment, an arrangement is provided, the arrangement including a mobile communication device including a terminal device for wireless communication with one or more other devices via a communication channel, and a fire retardant sleeve having a shape and size that enable accommodating the mobile communication device therein, wherein at least part of the mobile communication device is enclosed within the fire retardant sleeve.
Abstract:
A shrapnel containment system is provided which is adapted to be installed at an interior of a building wall to contain shrapnel from a blast, the system including a panel made of a layer of elastomeric material and fastener elements to fasten the layer to a wall of a structure, with the panel optionally including a fabric reinforcing layer. A method for producing the panel is also provided.
