Abstract:
PURPOSE: A piston or an exhaust valve spindle made of high temperature corrosion-resisting material which has long effective life is provided. CONSTITUTION: The valve spindle(1) for exhaust valve of a cross head engine includes a shaft(3) and a valve disk(2). A valve sheet(4) located on the upper surface of a valve disk is produced with a high temperature corrosion-resisting alloy having high hardness for preventing forming of a recessed groove for forming the seal face of the sheet. The lower surface of the valve disk has the layer consisted of high temperature corrosion-resisting material(5) for preventing the combustion of the material from the lower face(6) of the disk, has high softness and high endurance to the high temperature corrosion.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface protection film capable of controlling the intrusion of corrosive gas better than before. SOLUTION: The surface protection film includes yttria (Y 2 O 3 ) as a principal component and cerium. A movable wall member in the form of an exhaust valve spindle (1) or a piston (7) in an internal combustion engine is on the side of the wall member facing a combustion chamber provided with a hot-corrosion-resistant material (5, 14) made from a particulate starting material of an alloy containing nickel and chromium which by a HIP process has been unified to a coherent material substantially without melting the starting material. The corrosion-resistant material has a hardness of less than 310 HV measured at approximately 20 °C after the material has been heated to a temperature within the range of 550-850 °C for more than 400 hours.

Articles for hot hydrocarbon fluid wherein the surface for contacting the fluid is a metal oxide, amorphous glass or metal fluoride diffusion barrier material coated on a metal substrate. The metal oxide, amorphous glass or metal fluoride is deposited by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), e.g., by effusive CVD of an organometallic compound on the surface without the use of carrier gas, without pre-oxidation of the surface and without thermal decomposition of the diffusion barrier coating material. Examples of coating materials deposited by effusive CVD are Si0 2 , Ti0 2 , spinel and A1 2 0 3 . The articles having the coated surfaces find utility in components subjected to high temperatures wherein the components are in contact with hydrocarbon fluids without additives, without special attention to quality control and without the need for special processing.

In einen preßgegossenen Leichtmetallkolben für Verbrennungskraftmaschinen sind partiell Faserformkörper aus keramischen Kurzfasern, die parallel zu einer Ebene ausgerichtet sind, eingegossen. Zur Verbesserung der Verschleißfestigkeit des aus einer warmfesten Magnesiumlegierung bestehenden Kolbens weist der Kolbenschaft wenigstens im Bereich seiner Reibflächen eine 10 bis 30 µm dicke, eine Härte von 740 bis 850 HV 0,01 besitzende metallische, chemisch oder galvanisch abgeschiedene Laufschicht auf.
