Abstract:
A machine component is disclosed composed of 3.0 to 25 weight percent of zirconium oxide and/or hafnium oxide which are present in the interior of the machine component at room temperature predominantly in the metastable tetragonal modification and at the surface of the machine component in the monoclinic modification, said machine component having a profile bearing ratio of about 10 to 40% and an center line average surface roughness Ra in the contact area of less than 0.3 mu m. The machine components of the present invention are leakproof, exhibit good thermal shock durability and exhibit good frictional engagement characteristics for long periods of time.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain tire cords having the min. amount of oil by using a wire drawing liquid having >= a specified percent by weight of water and a small quantity of oil in a method for drawing a coated metal wire using a drawing tool made of silicon carbide. CONSTITUTION: At the time of drawing the coated metal wire which is workable in the manufacture of tires, the metal wire is guided by passing it through several dies arranged between two wire drawing tools made of silicon carbide. The wire drawing of the coated metal wire is executed using the wire-drawing liquid whose water is >=92 wt.% and whose oil is minimized. There is requirement, from the tire industry, that the tire cords are manufactured from steel wires coated with brass and the surface of the metal wire has the min. residual oil. By using the wire drawing tool made of the silicon carbide, the use of an emulsion having minimized oil at the time of drawing the wire coated with metal is enabled. In this way, the surface of the metal wire containes small quantity of oil and the tire cord excellent in corrosion resistance because of the flawless surface is obtained.
