    Abstract: Techniques for achieving linear monotonic output power with piecewise non-linear and/or non-monotonic circuits are described. A coarse gain is selected for a first circuit having non-linear and/or non-monotonic characteristics. A fine gain is selected for a second circuit used to account for output power error due to the coarse gain. First and second look-up tables may store output power versus gain for the first and second circuits, respectively. An output power in the first look-up table may be selected based on the requested output power, and the gain corresponding to the selected output power may be provided as the coarse gain. An output power in the second look-up table may be selected based on the output power error, and the gain corresponding to the selected output power may be provided as the second gain.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A forward AGC(Automatic Gain Control) method using a multicarrier radio transmission system is provided to simply execute correction in a system level by respectively detecting and comparing the output signals of IF surface-acoustic wave filters before three carrier waves are inputted to an IF AGC amplifier and adjusting their respective gains. CONSTITUTION: Before three carrier waves are inputted to IF AGC amplifier, a reference carrier wave among them is passed through the first IF surface-acoustic wave filter and amplified through an amplifier(S201). The amplified signal is detected by a detection part(S202). A control part tables the detected carrier wave and stores it in a memory(S203). Also the detection part respectively detects the other carrier waves through the other first IF surface-acoustic wave filters(S204). The control part also tables the detected carrier waves and stores them in the memory(S205). Then the control part compares the table value of the first carrier wave with the table value of the second carrier wave(S206). If the two values are different, the control part controls a pulse duration modulation generation part to generate a pulse duration modulation signal to an AGC amplifier, to which the second carrier wave is inputted, so that gain compensation can be made(S210). If the two values are identical, the control part makes the pulse duration modulation generation part generate a pulse duration modulation signal so as to get to the amplified level of the first carrier wave and adjusts the gain of the AGC amplifier, to which the second carrier wave is inputted(S207).
