    Abstract: A method and apparatus for Automatic Gain Control (AGC) that provides an output signal having a smooth gain variation for any input signal. The various embodiments assure that the output signal will reach a required output level in a specified attack or decay period. A curvilinear reference gain characteristic is applied to the gain variations. One example uses an exponential curve and sets an initial and final value of the gain law for both attack and decay periods as presets. The various embodiments further compute intermediate gain values of the curvilinear paths that archives the smooth variations is also proposed. Other possible curvilinear characteristics may be used such as, but not limited to, logarithmic, hyperbolic, sinusoidal, etc. that are expressible as exponentials. Intermediate gain values may be determined either by table lookup or by on the fly computation of the curvilinear characteristic.

    Abstract: A dynamically varying linearity system “DVLS” capable of varying the linearity of a radio frequency (RF) front-end of a communication device responsive to receiving a condition signal indicating a desired mode of operation of a transmitter. The DVLS may include a condition signal indicative of the desired mode of operation and a controller that adjusts the linearity of the transmitter responsive to the condition signal. The condition signal may be responsive to a user interface. The controller, responsive to the condition signal, may dynamically adjust the operating current of the transmitter.

    Abstract: The variable power supply to an amplifier in an electrical circuit is dynamically controlled through the use of a lookup table responsive to one or more operating conditions of the electrical circuit. The lookup table is indexed by one or more of the operating conditions and the amount of amplification to be applied to an input signal to the amplifier is determined. One embodiment of the invention comprises a television transmitter circuit including a power amplifier circuit capable of amplifying a variable frequency COFDM or 8VSB input signal where the amount of amplification applied to the input signal is dynamically controlled through the use of a lookup table as a function of the frequency of the input signal.

    Abstract: A compensation method for a characteristic difference of a photoelectric element is disclosed. The method includes (S1) providing a test substrate with a connector, a photoelectric element and a plurality of gain units, wherein the plurality of gain units are connected in parallel, and each gain unit includes a gain resistor and a disconnection port; (S2) connecting the connector to a test fixture which includes a test resistor and a test control unit, wherein when the test fixture is connected with the connector, the test resistor is electrically connected between the second pin and the third pin; (S3) providing input power to the connector so as to generate a test voltage on the photoelectric element; (S4) selecting the corresponding gain unit according to the test voltage and a classification data table; (S5) driving a production line to connect the first contact and the second contact of the selected gain unit.
