PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the use of relatively small and economical electrolytic capacitors even in the temperature range below -20°C.SOLUTION: The invention concerns a method of operating an inverter of an electrical refrigerant compressor by using intermediate circuit electrolytic capacitors. The method of operating an inverter of an electrical refrigerant compressor enables the operation of the inverter of the electrical refrigerant compressor at low temperatures for air conditioning or heating of motor vehicles using heat pump switching of a refrigerant circulation.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating system with a heater for enhancing a comfort level of a passenger, which exhibits good mileage, facilitates operation and has high efficiency, concerning a hybrid electric vehicle having an electric motor and a fueling generator.SOLUTION: The hybrid electric vehicle includes a traction motor 40 driven by a traction battery 20, and a supplemental or secondary electrical source for charging the traction battery. In order to warm the passenger compartment during cold weather, heat is applied from the traction motor 40 and the secondary source. Meanwhile, there may be insufficient heat to adequately warm the passenger compartment depending on conditions. The efficiency of the traction motor 40 is lowered, so that more heat is generated, to aid in supplying the deficiency. In an embodiment in which the traction motor is an ac motor, the efficiency is lowered by applying a direct current to the motor. In an embodiment in which the ac motor is an induction motor, the efficiency is lowered by increasing the average slip frequency.
