An object of the present invention is to provide a sliding member capable of rapidly wrapping a mating member, and reducing the surface roughness of the mating member after wrapping. The present invention relates to a sliding member for sliding with a mating member subjected to hardening treatment, the sliding member including a coating layer containing a binder resin, molybdenum disulfide, and hard substance particles in massive form.
Abstract:
A tubular threaded joint is constituted by a pin and a box each having a contact surface comprising an unthreaded metal contact portion including a seal portion and a shoulder portion and a threaded portion. Of the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box, the surfaces of the seal portion and the shoulder portion has a first lubricating coating in the form of a solid lubricating coating, and the surface of the threaded portion or the entire surface of the contact surface has a second lubricating coating selected from a viscous liquid lubricating coating and a solid lubricating coating. The first lubricating coating has a coefficient of friction which is higher than that of the second lubricating coating, and the second lubricating coating is positioned on top in a portion where both the first lubricating coating and the second lubricating coating are present.

Abstract:
This invention relates to carbon-based materials as anti-friction and anti-wear additives for advanced lubrication purposes. The materials have various shapes, sizes, and structures and are synthesized by autogenic reactions under extreme conditions of high temperature and pressure. The lubricant compositions comprise carbon-based particles suspended in a liquid hydrocarbon carrier. Optionally, the compositions further comprise a surfactant (e.g., to aid in dispersion of the carbon particles). Specifically, the novel lubricants have the ability to significantly lower friction and wear, which translates into improved fuel economies and longer durability of mechanical devices and engines.
Abstract:
The invention aims at providing a hard coating film excellent in lubrication characteristics; a process for the formation thereof; and tools for the plastic working of metal, and provides a hard coating film covering the surface of a substrate to come into contact with other member, wherein carbon atoms having carbon-carbon bonds are present in an amount of 10 at % or above. It is preferable that the hard coating film contain titanium carbide, while it is preferable to form a titanium nitride coating layer between the surface of the substrate and the hard coating film. The invention also provides a process for the formation of a hard coating film on the surface of a substrate by arc ion plating which comprises introducing a hydrocarbon gas during the arc ion plating with a metal target and which makes it possible to form on the surface of a substrate a coating film where carbon atoms having carbon-carbon bonds are present in an amount of 10 at % or above. It is preferable that prior to the introduction of a hydrocarbon gas, nitrogen gas be introduced to form a metal nitride layer on the surface of the substrate. Further, the invention provides tools for the plastic working of metal whose working surfaces are covered with the hard coating film.
