    Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce the dimension of each tensioner by means of nonlinear load by angularly providing tensioner cylinders each having tension for platform movement and having a greater second strong loading rate for storm-induced motion. CONSTITUTION: Four riser tensioner 38 are each interconnected to a deck 18 by a ball-and-socket joint 39, and the piston arm 37 of each tensioner 38 is made to expand and contract to impart a uniform tension to a riser 14, while another ball-and-joint connection 41 is used to permit turning movement between tensioner mounting rings 40 at the ends of rods 37. The vertical throw of the rod 37 is shortened by tilting each riser tensioner 38 to a certain angle, and a tensioner cylinder 38 having an internally or externally situated spring member 70, which responds nonliearly to load, is provided to further shorten the throw of the rod 37. Therefore, the length of the cylinder, the distance between the decks, and the shape of a platform can be reduced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To recover each part of the guideboard system of a well template without using a winch wire by successively releasing each part of the guideboard system, engaging a running tool/guideframe device with this part, and winding it by a guide wire. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of guideboards 22, 22 is mounted on the well template 13 of an undersea wellhead 15 situated on the seafloor. The guideboards 22, 22 are connected to guide wires 21, 21 extending from a platform deck on the sea and constituted in such a manner that each part is successively releasable. A running tool/guideframe device 10 is fixed to a riser connector 14, and the riser connector 14 is latched to the wellhead 15. Each part of the guideboard is successively released and engaged with the running/guideframe device 10, and the guide wires 21, 21 are wound up to recover all the devices removed from a riser.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To process seismic data signal efficiently by generating a seismic wave in the ground at a given position and detecting a resultant vibration wave at a plurality of vertical levels a hole penetrating a stratum below the energy source. CONSTITUTION: A seismic wave is generated by applying an impact onto the ground surface 33 by means of a weight dropper 34. The wave propagates through a stratum and detected by means of a detector suitable for receiving seismic wave energy and a detector 19 fixed to the wall of a pit through an anchor element by a method for bringing the detector into contact with the wall of the pit. In response to detection of seismic wave energy, the detector 19 generates an electric signal indicative of an incoming seismic wave which is then transmitted through a conductor cable 21 to a magnetic recorder. A plurality of such detectors are suspended from a cable 21 while being spaced apart vertically and touching the wall of pit and transmit reproducible signals to a recorder.

CONSTITUTION: A tension member nut 102 for adjustment supports the upper surface of a flange 106 when it reaches a satisfactory operating position, and the load of the tension member is transferred through an upper connector shroud part 108 compressively supporting the connection between a flex bearing 110 and a bearing surface 98 of a load ring 96 provided on a tension porch 48. The flex bearing 110 includes a common spherical surface flex bearing to a mooring tension member connecting area 52, thereby permitting deviation at some angle of the mooring tension member 46 from the complete vertical position.
