Abstract: PURPOSE: To process seismic data signal efficiently by generating a seismic wave in the ground at a given position and detecting a resultant vibration wave at a plurality of vertical levels a hole penetrating a stratum below the energy source. CONSTITUTION: A seismic wave is generated by applying an impact onto the ground surface 33 by means of a weight dropper 34. The wave propagates through a stratum and detected by means of a detector suitable for receiving seismic wave energy and a detector 19 fixed to the wall of a pit through an anchor element by a method for bringing the detector into contact with the wall of the pit. In response to detection of seismic wave energy, the detector 19 generates an electric signal indicative of an incoming seismic wave which is then transmitted through a conductor cable 21 to a magnetic recorder. A plurality of such detectors are suspended from a cable 21 while being spaced apart vertically and touching the wall of pit and transmit reproducible signals to a recorder.
