Abstract:
Stable pharmaceutical compositions of descarboethoxyloratadine (DCL), a metabolic derivative of loratadine, for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and other histamine-induced disorders are disclosed. The compositions are formulated to avoid the incompatibility between DCL and reactive excipients such as lactose and other mono- and di-saccharides. Disclosed compositions include lactose-free, non-hygroscopic and anhydrous stable pharmaceutical compositions of DCL.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are disclosed utilizing optically pure (null) rabeprazole for the treatment of ulcers in humans while substantially reducing the concomitant liability of adverse effects associated with the racemic mixture of rabeprazole. The optically pure (null) isomer is also useful for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux. (null) Rabeprazole is an inhibitor of Hnull release and is therefore useful in the treatment of other conditions related to gastric hypersecretion such as Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are disclosed utilizing the optically pure (null)-isomer of bupropion to assist in smoking cessation, for treating smoking and nicotine addiction, and for treating pain, including, but not limited to, chronic pain, neuropathetic pain and reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and other disorders such as narcolepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, seasonal affective disorder and premenstrual syndrome, while avoiding adverse affects associated with racemic bupropion.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are disclosed utilizing optically pure S(null)rabeprazole for the treatment of ulcers in humans while substantially reducing the concomitant liability of adverse effects associated with the racemic mixture of rabeprazole. The optically pure S(null) isomer is also useful for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux. S(null)rabeprazole is an inhibitor of Hnull release and is therefore useful in the treatment of other conditions related to gastric hypersecretion such as Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
Abstract:
Methods are disclosed for the treatment and prevention of disorders and conditions such as, but are not limited to: eating disorders; weight gain; obesity; irritable bowel syndrome; obsessive-compulsive disorders; platelet adhesion; apnea; affective disorders such as attention deficit disorders, depression, and anxiety; male and female sexual function disorders; restless leg syndrome; osteoarthritis; substance abuse including nicotine and cocaine addiction; narcolepsy; pain such as neuropathic pain, diabetic neuropathy, and chronic pain; migraines; cerebral function disorders; chronic disorders such as premenstrual syndrome; and incontinence. Pharmaceutical compositions and dosage forms are also disclosed which comprise a racemic or optically pure sibutramine metabolite and an optional additional pharmacologically active compound.
Abstract:
Methods are disclosed for the treatment and prevention of disorders and conditions including, but are not limited to, erectile dysfunction, affective disorders, weight gain, cerebral functional disorders, pain, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance abuse, chronic disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, migraines, and incontinence. The methods comprise the administration of a dopamine reuptake inhibitor and optionally an additional pharmacologically active compound. Pharmaceutical compositions and dosage forms are also disclosed that comprise a dopamine reuptake inhibitor and optionally an additional pharmacologically active compound. Preferred dopamine reuptake inhibitors are racemic or optically pure sibutrarnine metabolites and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, and clathrates thereof. Preferred additional pharmacologically active compounds include drugs that affect the central nervous system, such as 5-HT3 antagonists.
Abstract:
A method of preparation of a highly pure salt of R,R-formoterol L-tartrate is disclosed. The process provides the most thermodynamically stable polymorph by recrystallization of a novel polymorph.
Abstract:
Dextrorotatory isomer of 6-(5-chloro-2-pyridyl)-5-null(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)carbonyloxynull-7-oxo-6,7-dihydro-5H-pyrrolonull3,4-bnullpyrazine, its preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing it which are usable as tranquillisers and hypnotics.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to compositions comprising, and methods of using, racemic N-desmethylzopiclone, optically pure (null)-N-desmethylzopiclone, and optically pure (null)-N-desmethylzopiclone in the treatment and prevention of diseases and conditions in mammals. The invention is further directed to novel methods of preparing N-desmethylzopiclone, optically pure (null)-N-desmethylzopiclone, and optically pure (null)-N-desmethylzopiclone.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are disclosed utilizing the optically pure (S)-isomer of lomefloxacin to treat bacterial infection. In particular, this compound is a potent drug for the treatment of Mycobacteria infection.
