CONSTITUTION: A perfume composition which reproduces the fragrance of Dianthus superbus var. longicalycinus is prepared by adding methyl salicylate to perfume ingredients of Dianthus superbus var. longicalycinus containing 22-40 wt% of trans-ocimene, 19-32 wt% of linalool, and 7-13 wt% of methyl anthranylate. The composition further contains 6-17 wt% of geraniol, 5-13 wt% of nerolidol, 4-12 wt% of trans-methyl isoeugenol, and 3-10 wt% of cis-3-hexenol.
