Abstract: PURPOSE: A multi-cast network method in packet switch network is provided to implement an effective multi-cast in packet switch network having a common memory type switch and a plurality of port controllers. CONSTITUTION: A queue manager detects transmission queues of a link memory and when there is a pointer of transmission packet in the transmission queue, transmits the fact to the port controller corresponding to the transmission queue(200). The port controller received the fact from the queue manager requests the pointer of the packet to the queue manager and receives the pointer(202). The port controller accesses the room stored the packet by using the transmission queue, reads a place holder indicator within the packet header of the room and discriminates whether it is real packet or a place holder(204). If the packet is not place holder, the port controller reads unicast packet from the room within the packet memory and the queue manager performs in queue the address of the room of the read packet to an empty buffer queue of a link memory(206). Thereafter, the port controller transmits the real packet read from the packet memory through the corresponding packet(208).
