Abstract: PURPOSE: An active remote meter-reading system is provided to obtain continuously measured data without needing to replace a measuring unit even when a previously installed meter is replaced with a new meter, by transmitting a protocol configuration file which corresponds to the new meter to the previously installed measuring unit for protocol change. CONSTITUTION: An active remote meter-reading system(100) comprises a measuring unit(10), a reading server(70), and a concentrator(60). The measuring part is installed being matched to each meter(20) and signally connected to the each meter by a predetermined protocol for receiving and reading data measured by the meter. The measuring part given with unique ID information transmits read data which includes the ID information and measured data to the outside, and displays states of the measured data which is read in a display unit. The reading server receives and collects metered data of each measuring unit, calculates fee data corresponding to the read data which is received by each ID information, and stores each protocol configuration data by a manufacturing company and model. The concentrator relays the read data which is transmitted from the measuring data to the reading server. When a meter is replaced with a new meter applied with a different protocol, the reading server reads and transmits a protocol configuration data corresponding to the new meter to the measuring unit through the concentrator. The measuring unit changes protocol configuration according to the protocol configuration data for receiving and reading measured data of the new meter, and displays the states of measured data by reading the measured data which is transmitted from the new meter by the new protocol.
