Abstract: According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method of discovering a counterpart terminal with which direct communications, in which wireless terminals directly communicate with each other without passing through a node of an intermediate stage, is performed in an infrastructure network environment in which communications are implemented via the node of the intermediate stage includes the steps of: broadcasting an identifier packet including an identification address field in which typical identification address of each of wireless terminals is recorded and a service field in which information about each service supported by the wireless terminals is recorded; when a wireless terminal which intends to discover the counterpart wireless terminal for the direct communications receives the identifier packet and the information about the service recorded in the service field of the received identifier packet represents a kind of service identical with the kind desired by the wireless terminal, inquiring of the infrastructure through an infra link which is a communications link with the node of the intermediate stage whether the service type desired by the wireless terminal is supported by the wireless terminal broadcasting the received identifier packet; and when the wireless terminal which intends to discover the counterpart wireless terminal for the direct communications confirms a result of the inquiring through the infra link and the service type desired by the wireless terminal is supported by the wireless terminal broadcasting the received identifier packet, determining the wireless terminal having the typical identification address recorded in the identification address field of the received identifier packet as the counterpart wireless terminal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for performing direct communications between terminals and the terminal supporting the same are provided to obtain synchronization between the terminals performing direct communications by improving a synchronization channel structure. CONSTITUTION: Direct communications is performed with one or more second terminals using allocated resources for the direct communications between terminals. The resources include a synchronous channel which is used for frequency synchronization and time synchronization between the terminals.
