Abstract: A tilt angle determining system using an acceleration sensor and a method thereof are provided to prevent a sliding back phenomenon and starting delay by preventing a tilt error on a level ground and a slope way. A tilt angle determining system transfers a measured speed signal from an acceleration sensor of a vehicle to a mixing unit(12) through a conversion unit. A convergence module(13) calculates a tilt angle and outputs information about the calculated tilt angle to a creep and system logic(14) and an idle stop logic(15) when the speed signal is directly transmitted to the mixing unit. An estimation module(20) removes noises of the acceleration sensor and estimates acceleration of the acceleration sensor as acceleration obtained from a wheel speed sensor. A compensation module(30) compensates delay caused by the estimation of the acceleration.
