Abstract:
Assemblies comprising multi-layer optical film comprising optical layers reflecting incident UV and blue light over specified wavelength ranges. Embodiments of the multi-layer optical films are useful, for example, as a UV protective covering. An exemplary UV stable assembly comprises a multi-layer optical film comprising at least a first plurality of first and second optical layers reflecting at least 50 percent of incident UV light over at least a 30 nanometer wavelength range in a wavelength range from at least 300 nanometers to 400 nanometers, and a second plurality of first and second optical layers reflecting at least 50 percent of incident light over at least 30 nanometer wavelength in a wavelength range from at least 430 nanometers to 500 nanometers.
Abstract:
The use of a porous surface (402) on a microresonator (400) permits greater amounts of the material to be captured on or near the surface of the microresonator, resulting in an increased optical interaction between the material and the light propagating in the whispering gallery mode(s) of the microresonator.
Abstract:
An optical article including a core; at least one cladding layer; and a narrow fluorine reservoir between the core and the cladding layer. The fluorine reservoir has a higher concentration of fluorine than either the cladding layer or the core. One particular embodiment includes a core including a halide-doped silicate glass that comprises approximately the following in cation-plus-halide mole percent 0.25-5 mol% Al2O3, 0.05-1.5 mol% La2O3, 0.0005-0.75 mol% Er2O3, 0.5-6 mol% F, 0-1 mol% Cl.
