    Abstract: The invention relates to a sensor (1) for measuring density profile using gamma rays (5), which is particularly suitable for measuring the level in oil separator tanks. The known measuring principle involves conducting locally resolved measurement of a density-dependent gamma ray transmission of a medium (6a, 6b, 6c) by a vertical linear array (13) of photomultipliers( 7) and using said measurement to determine the location of an oil/water (6c) boundary layer. According to the invention, the gamma ray density sensor (1) is equipped with PIN photodiodes (10) instead of photomultipliers (7). Means for passive cooling for said photodiodes (10) are also provided. This considerably simplifies the structure, operation and maintenance of the sensor and improves local resolution and service life of the sensor (1). Passive cooling can be easily realized by building a thermal bridge (12) between the warm photodiodes (10) and the cool ambient medium or the cool wall (14) of the separator tank. Usability of the sensor (1) under difficult operating conditions and in non-easily accessible locations is generally improved.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for fluorescence measurement of oil residues in water. The core of the invention is to use a powerful, narrow-band excimer lamp to excite intensive fluorescence radiation to detect the latter with a photodiode or the like, and to determine the oil concentration therefrom. The excimer lamp can be designed as a flat radiator a hollow cylindrical inner radiator or a tubular radiator, and can be combined with a through-flow or free fall measuring cell. The excimer lamp is advantageously operated in a pulsed or modulated fashion, the fluorescence radiation is measured at a right angle to the exciting radiation, the emitted and/or transmitted exciting light is monitored with the detectors, and a redundant measuring arrangement with a plurality of excimer lamps and fluorescence detectors is provided. The sensor is distinguished by reliability, freedom from maintenance and a long service life.

    Abstract: The coverings have differing thicknesses (di, dj). Measurements of capacity between electrodes (4, 5, 6, 13) are used to calculate the effective thickness (ds/ epsilon s) of an insulating film of contamination (14). An Independent claim is included for a capacitative level sensor. Preferred Features: The quotient of double layer capacities CDSj and CDSi for the ith and jth electrodes is obtained from a cited equation. The effective thickness is obtained from a further equation, relating dielectric constant of the coverings, their thicknesses, and capacitor areas. The sensor has a covering thickness of ca. 1 mm, with a dielectric constant below 5. The contaminant film electrical characteristics are specified in terms of a critical frequency related to measurement. Measurement frequency is specified as a function of dielectric relaxation frequency at the boundary layer. Though dielectric thickness varies and the electrodes are segmented, the probe external configuration, is a long, smooth, cylindrical rod.

    Abstract: The system has at least one movement indicator (1) which controls, by wireless communication, an actuator (8) for controlling a light (9). On detection of movement, a command signal is generated to control the light, although there is also data transmission between the indicator and the actuator without previously detecting movement. A status telegram is generated by the movement indicator and sent to the actuator. If there is no command signal or status telegram within a predetermined period of time, this is interpreted as a function fault and is displayed by the actuator.
