    Abstract: An electrophotographic recording medium which consists essentially of an electrically conductive base and a photosemiconductive double layer which comprises a first layer containing charge carrier-producing dyes, and a second layer containing one or more compounds which are charge carrier-transporting when exposed to light, wherein the charge carrier-producing dyes are dark in color, possess substantially panchromatic absorption characteristics, and are of the general formula where R1 is propyl, 1-hydroxypropyl, 1-methoxypropyl or 1-phenylethyl, Z is p-phenylazoanilino, phenylthio or anilino, and n is 0-6, and a process for the production of this electrophotographic recording medium.

    Abstract: 1340530 Colouring polyesters BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 19 April 1971 [11 April 1970] 26561/71 Addition to 1330725 Heading C3R [Also in Division C4] Baking varnishes are coloured in red and orange shades with dyestuffs of the formula where n denotes a number of from 0À1 to 2À5. In an Example 133 parts of a 15% dye paste of a dye of Formula I where n has a value of 2À2 are mixed with 64 parts of an alkyd resin modified with soy bean oil and devoid of solvent and 16 parts of bisethylhexylphthalate. 0À4 parts of the resulting paste are mixed with 5 parts of a titanium dioxide paste formed by mixing 30 parts TiO 2 with 4 parts of colloidal silica and 66 parts of a binder comprising 70 parts alkyd resin, 17À5 parts bis-ethylhexylphthalate and 12À5 parts of a melamine resin. The resulting paste is applied as a coating and baked for 45 minutes at 120‹ C. to give a yellowish red coating. In a further Example 1 part of the full tone paste obtained as above is mixed with 3 parts of the above binder and baked at 120‹ C. for 45 minutes to give an orange coating.

    Abstract: In examples, the yellow pigment of the formula is (2) ground with nitrocellulose, dibutyl phthalate and a mixture of ethyl alcohol and ethyl glycol to yield a yellow printing ink; (3) ground with coconut oil alkyd resin, ureaformaldehyde resin, xylene and butanol to give a yellow baking lacquer; (4) mixed with polyvinyl chloride, diisooctyl phthalate and titanium dioxide to yield a yellow polyvinyl chloride material and (5) ground with paraffin-free drying unsaturated polyester resin, monostyrene, cyclohexenone peroxide paste, cobalt naphthenate in white spirit and silicone oil in xylene to yield a yellow waterproof lacquer. The pigment may also be incorporated in polyurethane fibres. Specification 326,487 is referred to.ALSO:The dye of the formula is purified by sublimation, by treatment with hot nitrobenzene or dimethylformamide or by precipitating the dye sulphate from a sulphuric acid solution of the dye by adding water and converting the sulphate into the dye. A pure form of the dye is made using 1 :5-diaminoanthraquinone which has been purified by crystallization, sublimation or via its sulphate. The dye may be brought into pigment form by grinding or acid-pasting. In an Example (1) the above dye purified by sublimation is ground with alumina trihydrate and linseed oil varnish to give a reddish-yellow printing ink. Specification 326,487 is referred to.
