Abstract: Abstract: In an aspect of the invention an arrangement for energising a load is provided where said arrangement includes: a prime mover configured for variable rotational speed operation; a permanent magnet alternator operatively actuated by the prime mover, said alternator configured to generate an output voltage and frequency proportional to a speed of the prime mover; and an electric motor operatively energised by the alternator, said motor for driving the load, wherein the proportional relationship between the output voltage and frequency facilitates a constant transfer of the load to the prime mover irrespective of the rotational speed thereof. cml

Abstract: 124,295. Stewart, J. March 30, 1918. No Patent granted (Scaling fee not paid). Stretching.-An apparatus for straightening baling and other wires after use, and for measuring their length so that they can be sorted into various sizes, comprises a bench R to the front of which is attached a hook A over which is placed a loop on the bale wire. The other end of the wire is gripped by grippers D on a sliding head C to which is attached a rod B which can be moved through a clutch member F with grippers F , Fig. 4, which grip the rod 13 when the head F' to which the clutch member is attached is moved to the right by means of pedal or hand-operated lever mechanism E, H, J. The pedal E is actuated to straighten the wire, and a pointer attached to the head C moves over a scale which indicate, the length of the straightened wire. A spring II normally maintains the head F' in contact with a stop K; or a stop-pin is used to restrain the backward movement of the head F , the clutch being open in this position. A slot in the head F moves over this stop-pin.
