The ultra high molecular weight copolymer compositions which are also characterized as having an intrinsic viscosity in tetrahydrofuran of at least about 4.0 may be obtained by a process which comprises polymerizing a I ,3-conjugated diene and a vinyl aromatic compound in a hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of a trimetalated 1-alkyne catalyst which comprises the reaction product of a 1-alkyne containing at least 4 carbon atoms, an organo metallic compound R.degree.M and a 1,3-conjugated diene wherein R.degree. is a hydrocarbyl group, M is an alkali metal, the mole ratio of R.degree.M to 1-alkyne is about 3:1 and the mole ratio of conjugated diene to 1-alkyne is from about 2:1 to about 30:1. The elastomer compositions of the invention can be prepared with large amounts of carbon black (e.g., at least 100 phr) and large amounts of oil (e.g., at least 80 phr) and these elastomer compositions exhibit high tensile strength, mechanical strength, wear resistance and thermal resistance.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of deodorizing rubber capable of sufficiently reducing rubber odor and to provide a clean air from which the rubber odor is sufficiently reduced. SOLUTION: In the method of rubber deodorization, the odor component of rubber is reacted with a betaine-related compound and an amphoteric ultrahigh molecular weight polyacrylamide. Further, in the method for producing clean air, the rubber odor is reduced by using the deodorizing method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polishing agent capable of protecting the surface of molded products such as of rubber from ultraviolet light and moisture and the like by including a both terminal hydroxyl group-blocked diorganopolysiloxane, a both terminal trisubstituted siloxy group-blocked diorganopolysiloxane and an organic solvent-soluble silicone resin and others. SOLUTION: This polishing agent is obtained by including (A) 10-70 wt.% of a silicone mixture comprising (i) 1-90 wt.% of a both terminal hydroxyl group-blocked biorganopolysiloxane of formula I (R1 , R and R are each a 1-20C monovalent organic group; (m) and (n) are each 10-2,000) with a viscosity of 0.01-1,000 Pa.s at 25 deg.C, (ii) 5-94 wt.% of a both terminal trisubstituted siloxy group-blocked diorganopolysiloxane of formula II with a viscosity of 0.01-1,000 Pa.s at 25 deg.C and (iii) 5-50 wt.% of an organic solvent-soluble silicone resin containing a total of >=80 mol.% of R 3 SiO1/2 unit and SiO4/2 unit in the molar ratio of 0.5-1.5, (B) 1-10 wt.% of a nonionic surfactant, and (C) water.

PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition excellent in the initial adhesiveness to steel cords, water resistant adhesiveness, fracture resistance, etc., thus useful for tire belts and steel coating, comprising each specific rubber component and adhesion improver. CONSTITUTION:The objective rubber composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt. of a rubber component containing >=50wt.% of natural rubber and/or synthetic polyisoprene with (B) 0.1-15 pts.wt. of an adhesion improver, metal salt(s) of organic acid and/or boric acid [pref. a metal salt of boric acid of the formula (M is Co or Ni; X, Y and Z are each 7-11C monocarboxylic acid group)] at a weight ratio Ci/Ni of (90:10) to (55:45).

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent adherence of mud and to manufacture a mud adherence preventive tire having no difficulty in durability by coating an outer surface of the tire which is vulcanized and molded with inactive polymer and then fixing it to the outer surface of the tire by heat treating. CONSTITUTION:A green tire shaped with crude rubber and cord material is vulcanized and molded in a mold. An outer surface of a tire 1 for a vehicle which is finished to be vulcanized and molded is coated with inactive polymer, the polymer is then fixed to the outer surface of the tire 1 by heat treating to form a seized coating 2. Thus, the tire 1 has the high water repellent coating 2 on the entire surface of a skid base area Sh and a sidewall S of a case body. Adherence of mud to the parts is effectively suppressed, and a fear of bringing mud is alleviated even at the time of escaping from a field.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To delay ignition and combustion speed as far as possible while keeping dynamic performance such as wear resistant property and the like as a tire and perform self-extinguishing in a short time by forming a rubber layer in a shoulder area including a tread end part of a fire retardant rubber layer having higher fire retardancy than other outside surface parts. CONSTITUTION:At least an outside surface part of a tread rubber layer is formed of a fire retardant rubber layer 1 having an oxygen index within a range of 19.8-27.5. A rubber layer in a shoulder area including a tread end part P is formed of a fire retardant rubber layer 2 whose oxygen index is 25.0 or more and having higher fire retardancy than other outside surface parts. When combustion is caused in the tire tread as in the case where electric leakage in an electric vehicle is grounded from the tire tread surface to cause ignition, ignition and combustion speed is delayed as far as possible while keeping dynamic performance such as wear resistant property and the like as a tire, and self-extinguishing is conducted in a short time.

PURPOSE:To minimize the deterioration of the properties of a rubber blended with red phosphorus by making the red phosphorus fine in particle size, while obviating a danger from the fined red phosphorus particles during storage, milling and processing by making a masterbatch thereof. CONSTITUTION:1-35wt.% red phosphorus of at most 10mum in average particle size is incorporated into an elastomer compsn. to prepare a flame-retardant rubber compsn. A masterbatch contg. 40-50wt.% red phosphorus incorporated into an elastomer compsn. is first prepared, and the red phosphorus in the masterbatch is then dispersed in a rubber.
