Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection structure for a wiring electrode and an oxide resistor, capable of reducing the contact resistance between the wiring electrode and the oxide resistor as well as improving the close contact of the bonding surface thereof. SOLUTION: An interlaminar insulation film 17 is formed on a silicon substrate 16. An Al electrode film 18 is formed thereon as a wiring electrode for a driving circuit. Furthermore, a passivation film 19 having a contact hole is formed thereon. A metal film made of a WTi, which is resistant to an etching liquid, is formed as a close contact layer 20 on the upper surface part 18-1 of the Al electrode film exposed by the contact hole of the passivation film 19, the contact hole side surface parts 19-1, 19-2 of the passivation film 19, and the upper surface parts 19-3, 19-4 in the vicinity of the contact hole. An oxide resistor film 21, and electrodes, such as a common electrode 22, and an individual wiring electrode 23 are formed thereon.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monolithic type ink jet printer head which can stably secure a good printing quality by preventing generation of bubbles because of electrolysis of ink. SOLUTION: In this ink jet printer head 35, a p-well 37 is formed to a surface layer part of an n-type silicon substrate 36 and then a logic circuit 38 and a transistor 39 for driving are formed in the p-well 37. The p-well 37 is connected to a grounded circuit. A p-n junction part 57 is formed along the periphery of the p-well 37. Between wall faces of an ink supply groove 45 and an ink supply-and-transfer hole 45 of the silicon substrate 36 and the grounded circuit inside the p-well 37 is separated by the p-n junction part 57. A voltage direction in which a current is sent from a common electrode 42 of a power supply potential VH towards the substrate grounded circuit becomes opposite to a direction of a diode effect provided in the p-n junction part 57 between the n-type silicon substrate 36 and the p-well 37. Accordingly a short-circuiting circuit via the ink and the silicon substrate 36 shown by solid line arrows 54 and 56 in Fig. is interrupted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a cold cathode discharge tube for a backlight in a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: YH2+x (x is a positive or negative number less than 1) is used as a material for an electron emitting electrode (cold cathode) of a cold cathode discharge florescent light emitting tube 286 used for the backlight of a liquid crystal display. The electron emitting electrode comprises a metal substrate containing Ni, and an electron emitting layer formed on the substrate. The electron emitting layer is composed mainly of YH2+x. Stable cold electron emission is attained in the electron emitting layer comprising TH2+x over a long period at a low voltage. Therefore, and electric power consumption of the liquid crystal display is reduced by using the cold cathode comprising the fluorescent tube 286 for the backlight.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet printer head small in size and capable of printing at a high speed. SOLUTION: A printer head 20 is formed of two element heads 21-1, 21-2 having the identical shape of a parallelogram, which are joined to each other in the direction of vertical scanning. The element head 21 has nozzle arrays 22 composed of a plurality of nozzles 23 (23-1, 23-2, etc.), formed along two sides parallel to each other, and the element heads 21-1, 21-2 are joined together in such a manner that an interval J spaced in the direction of the vertical scanning between the nozzles (i.e., the nozzle 23-1 of the nozzle array 22-1y of a Y-row of the element head 21-1 and the nozzle 23-2 of the nozzle array 22-2y of a Y-row of the element head 21-2) of the mutually corresponding nozzle arrays in the element heads 21-1 and 21-2 to be joined together becomes equal to each nozzle interval K in each nozzle array 23. Accordingly, the effective head width N of the printer head 20 elongated by joining is made substantially equal to the width of an element head 21 of a conventional printer head which is not elongated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress damage on an electrode in the way of machining by enhancing conductivity on the periphery of a heating element. SOLUTION: In the initial process of an ink jet head 24(25), a diffused region 31 and an oxide film 32 are formed on a silicon substrate 10(11) and laminated with the individual wiring electrodes 14 of a drive circuit. A heating element film 15-1 of Ta-Si-O, for example, is then formed as thick as by 3000-8000 Åwhile superposing one end on the individual wiring electrode 14 and the other end on a left common electrode 12 (not shown). A conduction assisting protective film 33 of W strong against heat and processing liquid and containing 10% or less of Ti, Al or Si excellent in adhesion is formed as thick as 2000-4000 Åat a part other than a heating part 15 followed by formation of a good conductor Au electrode film 34 of about 1 μm. The heating element film 15-1 and the Au electrode film 34 adhere well through the conduction assisting protective film 33 and a drive current is fed from individual wiring electrode 14 through the heating element film 15-1, the conduction assisting protective film 33 and the Au electrode film 34 to the heating part 15.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting display element which is low in electric power consumption and long in life. SOLUTION: An Al film 3 is formed on a substrate 2 and a yttrium film 4A and a yttrium oxide film 4B having a crystal system of body centered cubic lattice are formed thereon to form a cathode electrode 5. An electron transfer layer 6, a hole transfer layer 7 and an anode electrode 8 consisting of ITO are successively formed on the yttrium oxide film 4B. The yttrium oxide film 4B is formed on the surface joined to the electron transfer layer 6 of the cathode electrode 5 in such a manner, by which the implantation of electrons from the cathode to the electron transfer layer 4b is made easier. The light emitting display element which is low in the electric power consumption and is long in the cathode life is, therefore, embodied.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-lived cold cathode having a low discharge voltage. SOLUTION: After the surface of a chromium electrode board 1 is spin coated with lanthanum nitrate, a preliminary reaction process is employed in a vacuum to form a material film having a relatively large thickness. Thereafter, the crystallization of lanthanum oxide proceeds in an electric furnace, and metallic particles 3 composed of chromium and nickel are diffused from the electrode board 1 into lanthanum oxide. Moreover, excess oxides are removed in a reducing furnace, and chromium and nickel are diffused into a lanthanum oxide film 2. A cold cathode produced this way can considerably lower its discharge voltage.

SOLUTION: A cold cathode fluorescent tube 11 is used as a light source and an electrode 12 formed with yttrium or electron releasable yttrium oxide having low resistivity is used as its electrode. The cold cathode fluorescent tube 11 is arranged alongside a light transmission plate 16. The front surface of the light transmission plate 16 is provided with a light guide system 15 so that the exit light of the light transmission plate 16 is guided by the light guide system 15 to the parallel beams perpendicular to the light transmission plate 16. The utilization efficiency of the light is improved and the luminance of the light source is greatly improved by adopting such constitution and, therefore, the liquid crystal display device having the high luminance is embodied with the low electric power consumption.
