Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing pyridine bases by using a catalyst prepared by supporting specific metals in combination on a new zeolite and produce the new zeolite, supporting the metals and comprising the specific metals supported on the zeolite. SOLUTION: A catalyst prepared by modifying, mixing or carrying out the ion exchange of a mixture of metallic compounds selected from a combination of indium as the first component with tungsten or molybdenum as the second component or a mixture of metallic ions is used in the method for producing pyridine bases by condensing an aliphatic aldehyde and/or a ketone with ammonia in the vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst is obtained by supporting the indium as the first component and the tungsten or molybdenum as the second component on a zeolite having 1-12 control index.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and rapidly produce a vinyl ether compound by reacting a vinyl ether with an alcohol in the presence of the complex of Pd with a nitrogen didentate ligand in the reaction system. SOLUTION: In this method for producing the vinyl ether of the formula: R -CR =CR -OR by reacting (A) a vinyl ether of the formula: R -CR =CR -OR (R -R are each an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl, H; R is an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl) with (B) an alcohol of the formula: R -OH (R is an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl, but R is the same as R ), (C) the complex of Pd with a nitrogen didentate (preferably the complex of palladium acetate with 1,10-phenanthroline) is used in the reaction system, and a nitrogen compound capable of being converted into the nitrogen didentate ligand of the component C is used in an amount of 0-100 mole ratio to the palladium atom.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a diol under the prevention of the elution of a catalyst without causing side reactions such as the ring opening, polymerization, etc., of a lactone by treating the lactone with a basic solid substance capable of being not dissolved in the lactone and subsequently hydrogenating the treated lactone in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A lactone of formula I or II or their mixture is preliminarily treated with a basic solid substance (e.g. weakly basic anion exchange resin) capable of being not dissolved in the lactone. The treated lactone is hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst containing copper and chromium as basic components or a catalyst containing copper, iron and aluminum as basic components under a pressure of 2-500kg/cm at 50-400 deg.C to obtain the diol of formula III or IV or their mixture. The molar ratio of the charged lactone to the charged hydrogen is 1/(2-2000). The produced diols are useful as monomers for synthetic resins such as polyurethanes and polyesters, or as a raw material for plasticizers for synthetic resins, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain one isomer of phenylpropionic acid useful as a drug economically, efficiently and in high purity, by dissolving an isomer mixture of a phenylpropionic acid in a solvent and carrying out crystallization. CONSTITUTION:An isomer mixture of a phenylpropionic acid shown by the formula (R is H, alkyl, alkenyl or aryl) is dissolved in a solvent (e.g. hexane, heptane, methanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, etc.). The concentration of the solution is ordinarily up to about 15wt%. After the dissolution, crystal is precipitated by methods of (i) changing temperature of the solution, (ii) adding a solvent such as water, etc., (iii) distilling away part of the solvent, etc., to give the aimed compound. When purity of the crystal is insufficient, the crystal is redissolved in the solvent and crystallization is repeated to improve purity.
