Abstract: A form of the disazo pigment C.I. 20040 having the formula 30% of +TR IS SHOWN HAVING IMPROVED COVERING POWER, IMPROVED FLUIDITY IN LACQUER SYSTEMS AND HIGH LUSTER, WHICH IS CHARACTERIZED BY A SPECIFIC SURFACE OF 10 - 20, PREFERABLY 12 - 17 M2/G AND A MAXIMUM IN GRAIN DIAMETER DISTRIBUTION BETWEEN 500 AND 1000 NM, AT LEAST 30 % OF ALL GRAINS HAVING A DIAMETER OF FROM 500 TO 1000 NM AND LESS THAN 25% OF ALL GRAINS HAVING A DIAMETER OR MORE THAN 1000 NM. This new pigment is obtained by isolating the pigment, after coupling, by stirring it out with alkali and, after having filtered it off and washed until neutrality, heating it to temperatures above 100 DEG C with an organic solvent which is immiscible with water or miscible with water to a limited degree only.

Abstract: 1,265,357. Water-insoluble disazo dyestuff mixtures. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 9 Dec., 1969 [9 Dec., 1968], No. 60073/69. Heading C4P. Novel dyestuff mixtures consisting of mixtures of dyestuffs of the Formulae (A), (B) and (C) are prepared by coupling tetrazotized 4,4 1 - diamino-3,3 1 -dichlorodiphenyl with a mixture of 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazolone-(5) and 1-p-tolyl- 3-methyl-pyrazolone-(5) in a molar ratio of tetrazotized diamine to pyrazolone mixture of 1 : 2. The mixtures vary in shade from yellowish orange to reddish orange depending on the proportions of the two pyrazolones in the mixtures thereof and the order of mixing when coupling. A dispersant such as an addition product of about 20 moles of ethylene oxide and 1 mole of octadecyl alcohol may be present in the coupling reaction.

Abstract: Monoazo pigments of the general formula WHEREIN X is hydrogen or halogen, preferably chlorine or bromine, alkyl, alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, phenyl, phenoxy or cyano, Y represents hydrogen or halogen, preferably chlorine or bromine, alkyl, alkoxy, carbomethoxy, phenyl or phenoxy, Z represents hydrogen, chlorine or bromine, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl, methylsulfonyl, aminocarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, phenylaminocarbonyl, aminosulfonyl, alkylaminosulfonyl, alkanoylamino or aroylamino, A represents a phenyl or naphthalene ring, n represents 1 or 2, m is an integer of from 1 to 3 and Me is an equivalent of a metal cation forming a lake and a process for preparing them by diazotizing aromatic amines of the general formula with coupling components of the general formula AND SUBSEQUENTLY CONVERTING INTO A LAKE WITH METAL SALTS, X,Y,Z,A, n and m having the above meaning. These pigments can be successfully used for dyeing all materials usually dyed with pigments. They are especially suitable for coloring high molecular plastics such as PVC and on account of their excellent resistance to heat, for coloring polyolefins.

Abstract: 1407059 Oil-soluble monoazo dye mixtures HOECHST AG 15 Nov 1972 [20 Nov 1971] 52739/72 Heading C4P Mixtures of monoazo dyes of formula wherein represents the residue of a mixture of 2 to 10 diazotized anilines, R 1 and R 2 are H atoms or C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy groups and A is the residue of phenol and #-naphthol are prepared by coupling the mixture of diazotized anilines with a mixture of phenol and #-naphthol. The dyes may be used to colour lacquers, printing pastes, resins, fibrous materials and paper in orange shades but are preferably dissolved in aromatic solvents during or after manufacture and the concentrates obtained used to colour gasoline and mineral oils.
