    Abstract: Baking gum for exposed and developed offset printing plates consists of water and a water-soluble (co)polymer (I) to protect the surface during baking the long-term storage. The novelty is that (I) has sulphonic acid and/or alkali or ammonium sulphonate gps. (I) is a (co)polymer with styrene- and/or methylstyrene-sulphonic acid units or their water-soluble salts, pref. an alkali or ammonium salt of a sulphonated polystyrene or a copolymer of an alkaline or ammonium salt of a sulphonated styrene and maleic anhydride; a (co)polymer contg. aliphatic sulphonic acid (salt) units, pref. polyvinyl-sulphonic acid or salts or copolymers of vinylsulphonic acid or acrylamidopropanesulphonic acid (salts); or a (co)polymer contg. acetal gps. forming an aldehyde-sulphonic acid, esp. partly or completely hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate, in which the PVA units are (partly) acetalised with butyraldehyde-4-sulphonic acid. (I) has a mol. wt. of 1500-500000. The aq. soln. contains 1-5, pref. 3-20 wt.% (I) and pref. also 0.10-5 wt.% surfactant and/or hydroxypolycarboxylic acid and/or their water-soluble salts.

    Abstract: A light-sensitive mixture is disclosed which contains a 1,2-naphthoquinone-2-diazide-sulfonic acid ester and a binder. A reproduction material produced with this mixture is also disclosed. The naphthoquinone-diazide-sulfonic acid ester is a compound of the general formula I I in which D is a 1,2-naphthoquinone-2-diazide-4-sulfonyl or 1,2-naphthoquinone-2-diazide-5-sulfonyl radical, R1 is hydrogen or an -OD group, and R2 is alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted aryl, preferably alkyl having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl. The light-sensitive mixture is highly photosensitive, has good overdevelopment resistance and is resistant to fountain solutions and petroleum hydrocarbons.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a photosensitive mixture which essentially contains a naphthoquinonediazidosulphonic ester, a resin-like binder soluble in aqueous alkaline solutions and an organic dye capable of salt formation. The mixture contains a 1,2- naphthoquinonediazidosulphonic ester of the general formula R1 denotes H, NO2, alkyl or alkoxy, each having up to 4 carbon atoms, halogen and/or O-SO2-D and R2 denotes a trihaloalkyl radical. The photosensitive mixture has high photosensitivity and is strongly acidic after exposure to light, which leads to very good contrast owing to the colour change of the indicator.

    Abstract: A light-sensitive mixture is disclosed which contains a binder comprising a polycondensation product of a phenol corresponding to the formula wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a hydroxy group, R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a hydroxy group or an acetyl group, and R3 is a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a carboxyl group or a carboxylic acid ester group, and a compound corresonding to the formula ROCH2-X-CH2OR, wherein R is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group or an acetyl group and X is a phenylene group or a binuclear aromatic group. The mixture yields printing plates which have a high resistance to developing solutions and which show a low degree of soiling upon baking.
