    Abstract: The present invention relates to a biosensor for determining an analyte comprising a substrate, a working electrode comprising an electrically conductive pad in conductive contact with a mediator layer, and an enzyme layer in diffusion-enabling contact with said mediator layer, wherein said mediator layer is an electrodeposited mediator layer, and wherein said mediator layer comprises, in an embodiment consists of, an electrocatalytic agent. The present invention further relates to amethod for manufacturing a biosensor, comprising providing a substrate having at least one conductive pad, electrodepositing a mediator layer onto at least part of said conductive pad, wherein said mediator layer comprises, in an embodiment consists of, an electrocatalytic agent, and depositing an enzyme layer onto at least part of said mediator layer. Moreover, the present invention relates to uses and methods related to the biosensor of the present invention.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a skin-mountable patch device (1, 2) for use in an analyte measurement system (1, 2,3) designed for continuous in-vivo measurement of a body fluid analyte concentration, and a method for initializing the analyte measurement system. The patch device (1, 2) includes a disposable unit (1), including a transcutaneous analyte sensor (10) and machine-readable sensor identifier (121), and is releasably coupled to an electronics unit (2). A number of initialization data sets for analyte sensor batches are stored in a remote database system (4). A control device (3) reads via a reading device the sensor identifier from the disposable unit (1) and transmits the sensor identifier to the remote database system which determines a matching initialization data set. The matching initialization data set is transmitted via the control device (3) to the electronics unit (2) which stores the matching initialization data set.

    Abstract: A chemistry matrix for use in determining the concentration of an analyte in a biological fluid includes a glucose dehydrogenase, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, an alkylphenazine quaternary salt, and/or a nitrosoaniline. The chemistry matrix is used with an electrochemical biosensor to determine the concentration of an analyte after a reaction occurs within the biosensor, at which time an analysis is completed to determine the concentration. A method of determining the concentration of an analyte using the chemistry matrix of glucose dehydrogenase, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, an alkylphenazine quaternary salt, and/or a nitrosoaniline is another aspect that is described. The method also further features test times of five seconds or less. Methods utilizing the new chemistry matrix can readily determine an analyte such as blood glucose at concentrations of from about 20-600 mg/dL at a pH of from about 6.5 to about 8.5.

    Abstract: The system has a potentiostat (4) for adjusting difference of electric potential between a working electrode (1) and a reference electrode (2) to measure an electric current flowing between the working electrode and a counter electrode (3). The working electrode is connected to a working electrode terminal (15), and the reference electrode is connected to a reference electrode terminal (19). An evaluation unit (9) monitors the electric potential of the counter electrode, and generates a malfunction signal when the potential is outside a specified reference range. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting malfunctions of a measuring system of an analyte concentration.

    Abstract: The connecting device has a tightener for stretching the lancet systems connected with the modules and operating device for activating the stripes. A data exchange device is used to exchange the load information of the test stripes between the modules and has a transponder arranged in the magazine module (110) and a transponder reader arranged in the diagnostic module (112). Erasable programmable read only memory is arranged in the magazine module with vertical gripping section. The exchange and connecting devices are connected by electrical contact. Clamping carriages of the tightener is connected with feeder system. The magazine module exhibits test electrode connected with the diagnostic module and pile magazine for the stripes. Desiccant is brought into the magazine module for decreasing the air humidity. Independent claims are also included for: (1) magazine module; and (2) process for serving a diagnostic system.
