Abstract:
Systems, methods and apparatus for a multidimensional bidding marketplace for providing advertising content to wireless devices. In particular, aspects allows advertising providers, to define and/or identify a one or more wireless device-based transient factors from a plurality of factors, which serve to define a targeted advertising audience and to bid on advertising based on the selected or identified transient factors.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for fast channel switching between real time content on a device. In an aspect, a method includes receiving a channel selection indicator that identifies a channel comprising real time content to be rendered, determining whether the real time content can be rendered using an existing rendering pathway, and inputting the real time content into the existing rendering pathway if it is determined that the real time content can be rendered using the existing rendering pathway. An apparatus includes a user interface to receive a channel selection indicator that identifies a channel comprising real time content to be rendered, processing logic to determine whether the real time content can be rendered using an existing rendering pathway, and a rendering interface to input the real time content into the existing rendering pathway if it is determined that the real time content can be rendered using the existing pathway.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for efficient data distribution to a group of users. In an aspect, a method is provided for distributing information. The method includes detecting one or more requests for the information, determining whether the information is to be broadcast, and transmitting the information in a broadcast transmission based on the determination. In another aspect, an apparatus is provided for distributing information. The apparatus includes a detector configured to detect one or more requests for the information, a determination module configured to determine whether the information is to be broadcast, and a transmitter configured to transmit the information in a broadcast transmission based on the determination.
Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatus and methods operable to distribute targeted content. Additionally, disclosed are corresponding apparatus and methods operable to selectively choose and cache selected ones from among the distributed targeted content, and to further choose ones from among the cached content to present on a device. In some aspects, selective caching of content may be based upon a match between predetermined content attribute information and predetermined profile information. Further, in some aspects, an indicator is operable to trigger the selective inclusion of one or more of the cached content in a presentation of other content, which may be based on a match between a desired content attribute associated with the indicator and the respective predetermined content attribute information of the cached content.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for registering a user in a group communication network provides for determining an address for a location server, requesting the location server to register the user, and receiving a notification from the location server that the user is registered. The method further provides for requesting the location server to authenticate the user before registering the user, and requesting the location server to load information about the user. The method and apparatus also provides for a significant reduction in the actual total dormancy wakeup time and latency by exchanging group call signaling even when mobiles are dormant and no traffic channel is active.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reducing dormand-wakeup latency in a group communication network (100) provides for a significant reduction in the actual total dormant-wakeup time and the PTT{XE"PTT"} latency perceived by the talker through caching the network-initiated wakeup tiggers destined for target listeners, and delivering a wakeup trigger to a target mobile station (104, 1o6, 108) as soon as the target mobile station has re-established its traffic channel.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing an efficient dormant mode for push-to-talk communication devices (102, 104, 106) in a group communication network (100) provides for determining whether the net has been inactive for a predetermined first time period and, if so, causing each member of the net to enter a control-hold mode, wherein each member of the net maintains its dedicated traffic channel. The method further includes the steps of determining whether each member of the net has been in the control-hold mode for a predetermined second time period and, if so, causing each member of the net to enter a dormant mode, wherein each member of the net releases its dedicated traffic channel. The method and apparatus further provides for causing each member of the net to cache its service configuration state before entering the dormant mode.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, an application server determines to transmit a first data stream in a first multicasting area, a second data stream in a second multicasting area and both data streams in a third multicasting area that overlaps with the second multicasting area (e.g., at a border region between the first and second multicasting areas). The application server sends the first data stream to a multicast network management node for transmission in the first and third multicasting areas. The application server sends the first and second data streams to a multiplex stream multiplexer that multiplexes the two data streams into a single higher-rate multiplexed multicast stream with packets that include payloads data for both the first and second data streams. The multiplexed multicast stream is delivered to the third multicasting area for transmission to at least one target UE.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for joining a user to a call in a group communication network provides for receiving an indication from a user who wishes to initiate a group call and sending a request to a server to add the user to the group call if the group call is in progress. The method and apparatus also provides for receiving a response from the server indicating that the group call is in progress, alerting the user of being added to the group call, and receiving media from the server after a traffic channel is re-established. The method and apparatus also provides for a significant reduction in the actual total dormancy wakeup time and latency by exchanging group call signaling even when mobiles are dormant and no traffic channel is active.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for fast channel switching between real time content on a device. In an aspect, a method includes receiving a channel selection indicator that identifies a channel comprising real time content to be rendered (406), determining whether the real time content can be rendered using an existing rendering pathway (410), and inputting the real time content into the existing rendering pathway if it is determined that the real time content can be rendered using the existing rendering pathway (414). An apparatus includes a user interface, to receive a channel selection indicator that identifies a channel comprising real time content to be rendered, processing logic to determine whether the real time content can be rendered using an existing rendering pathway, and a rendering interface to input the real time content into the existing rendering pathway if it is determined that the real time content can be rendered using the existing pathway.
