    Abstract: A DRX/eDRX cycle may include a single PFW located in one of the non-anchor hopping frames and used to transmit a paging message. When the LBT procedure fails for the non-anchor hopping frame in which the PFW is located, transmission of the paging message may be delayed. Postponing the transmission of the paging message until a subsequent DRX/eDRX cycle be detrimental since the UE may not receive the change in system information at the next modification boundary. Thus, there is a need for paging mechanism the increases the chance of a UE receiving a paging message during a DRX/eDRX cycle. The present disclosure provides a paging mechanism that uses a PSFW with a PFW in each non-anchor hopping frame within a DRX/eDRX cycle. Hence, the chance of a UE receiving a paging message and hence the change in system information may be increased.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that asynchronous carrier aggregation, including between high frequency band and lower frequency band transmissions. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to monitor transmissions in a first frequency band and a second frequency band. The UE may measure a timing difference between transmissions in the first frequency band and one or more of the transmissions in the second frequency band, and transmit an indication of the timing difference to a base station. The base station may use the timing difference to determine whether the UE is to use asynchronous carrier aggregation. If the base station determines that the UE is to use asynchronous carrier aggregation, the base station may configure the UE to observe at least a minimum amount of delay when conducting uplink signaling via one of the frequency bands.

A base station may configure a system frame number (SFN) and hyper-SFN associated with a long term sensing pattern. The base station may then transmit the SFN and hyper-SFN to indicate a sensing period corresponding to the long term sensing pattern. A UE may receive a SFN and hyper-SFN associated with a long term sensing pattern. The UE may determine, based on the SFN and hyper-SFN, a sensing period corresponding to the long term sensing pattern. The UE may then suspend a plurality of procedures during the sensing period.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems may support multi-band operation. Different frequency bands may experience different communication characteristics (e.g., frequency-dependent fading), which may result in undesirable interference patterns and/or coverage gaps. The described techniques provide for channel access methods for multi-band operation. The channel access methods may allow for improved throughput for a wireless communications system. Additionally or alternatively, the described techniques may improve energy efficiency for communicating devices, reduce signaling overhead, or otherwise benefit a wireless communications system. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficient anchoring of high-band communications to low-band transmissions.

    Abstract: The extension of NB-IoT and eMTC communications into the unlicensed spectrum introduces a number of problems associated with channel quality measurement and reporting. A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are presented that provide a technique for channel quality measurement and reporting that addressed such problems. A UE apparatus measures a CQI measurement for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups and reports a CQI for each of the plurality of groups. A base station may configure the UE for CQI reporting and may receive a CQI for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups. The set of hopping frequencies comprise frequencies in an unlicensed spectrum.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. The described techniques provide for transmission of uplink data from a user equipment (UE) in the absence of scheduled uplink resources for the uplink data transmission that are allocated to the UE prior to the transmission of the uplink data. Various examples provide frame structures that may be used for unscheduled uplink transmissions of a UE. Unscheduled uplink transmissions may be transmitted in a shared or unlicensed radio frequency spectrum, and access to the shared or unlicensed radio frequency spectrum may be determined based on a priority of an operator associated with a UE for accessing the spectrum. Beamforming techniques may be used for uplink and downlink transmissions and beam widths for beamformed transmissions may be selected based on the information transmitted in a transmission, an operator priority for use of shared radio frequency spectrum, or any combination thereof.

    Abstract: Configurations of system information blocks providing cell access information supporting wideband coverage enhancement in wireless communication networks are disclosed. Embodiments encode and transmit information elements for both a legacy system information block and a wideband coverage enhancement system information block in a multiple subframe discovery reference signal configuration. For example, embodiments may utilize a two subframe CR-DRS configuration in which a WCE SIB-MFl message payload is encoded and transmitted independently with respect to a legacy SIB-MFl message payload. Additionally, or alternatively, embodiment may utilize a two subframe CR-DRS configuration in which both a legacy SIB-MFl message payload and a WCE SIB-MFl message payload share the same DRS subframe payload by jointly encoding the legacy SIB- MFl and WCE SIB-MFl messages.
